Thanks for the welcome here are a few photos from some of my fall plugging caught from some natural lakes in montcalm mi I do have a question what knot do you guys use when using a leader 50lb plus I been using a trilene knot but have hard time getting sinched tight

Caught these in 48 degree water air temp. was 63 degrees the following day it was 38 degrees. Mirgration was between 10 to 2 200 plug copper. Contour trolling shallows just ticking the weeds.Buck is so right about wheater and water conditions

In response to your question - The knot you are attempting is very difficult to achieve with the lb. test you are using with mono. I apply a single loop in the eyelet and then wrap the 50 lb plus mono three times and then work the tag end back and secure by using your finger tips to slide the wraps back up to the eyelet, along with pulling the tag end with pliers at the same time. Make sure your line is moist when snugging down the knot. I would then leave a bit longer tag end when snipping off the excess line. This will compensate for any slippage. I find this know has little to no slipping and have not lost a fish to date. Hope this helps.

A Uni Knot will work just fine and is easy to tie. Once you learn to tie it, you can tie it with your eyes closed or in the pitch dark.
