I saw this listed on Ebay. Did Buck actually make this spoonplug? Anyone out there know if this is genuine?

It sure looks original, in fact John Bales and I just talked about what I assume is the above s.p. this was the 1st 700 designed for salt water.

The last one like this went for about $600.
So all I can say is bring your money. I stopped bidding at 525.

Hi Fran,

I know you occasionally talk to Mrs. Perry. Any additional info on this "salt Water" spoonplug? This is the first that i have heard of it. From the box it must of be made in the late 50's/early 60's. I never saw it mentioned in any of the early literature. Is there one in the museum in Hickory?
It sure would look good in my collection but it's a bit pricey for me too!

P.S.
John....I bet those BIG muskie in the Detroit River would gobble them up......

Hi Jim,
I think that the lure is about 8 inches long and not made for very long. The only ones I have seen are in the museum. In fact it has been easier and cheaper to get 900's.

The only thing I know for sure from talking to Jeri is that there were a large number of these size lures stolen. The way to tell if these lures MAY be the missing ones is that the lures are not hooked and ringed.

Interesting that the current and the last one were both missing hooks and rings. The current one has a back hook but it isn't the correct size. The value (at least to me) comes from being able to get the job finished at the shop. Also the complete and good condition box is a really important too.

Recently Jeri and Scott investigated the possibility of getting a die made for this size or larger but the cost is just too great.

I know that I will be bidding but I probably won't win.
