Lake Maps

Post by Fran Myers »

I just wanted to share some resources for free lake maps that I have found in the last few weeks.

Wisconsin: http://dnr.wi.gov/org/water/fhp/lakes/l ... maps_p.htm
Minnesota: www.dnr.state.mn.us/lakefind/index.html
Michigan: http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-15 ... --,00.html

I admit that sometimes the maps aren't great but hey when it’s free it’s a good start.

I looked for Iowa and Illinois maps on their DNR sites but haven't found them yet.

For paid for maps a great site is

http://www.sportsmansconnection.com/

While I haven't needed to buy these map books, I have seen them and they offer a high quality start to our mapping procedures. They don't have all the states and some states are broken into different books. They cost around $20 - $25 a book.
Thanks

DNR MAPS

Fran Myers, and All others:

I've seen DNR maks for the TVA. But I have no idea what DNR maps are or how to use them. I can download them, but does it take a special application to open them?

You probably downloaded a file that had a name like:
independence.pdf or milacs.tiff.

The .pdf or .tiff is the important part.
If this is the case you need something called Adobe Acrobat. Its a free program from www.adobe.com

There is a Professional version of the same thing and that costs money, You don't need it. Just get the free version and install it.
If you have problems Personal Message me and I'll get you set up.

I just flew over the TVA system this last few days. Pickwick and some others. I really want to get down there.

Talk to you later,
Fran
