Last week I was cleaning walleyes at the fish cleaning station near the ramp. I just finished filleting the walleyes when a local stopped by to clean his fish. He asked if I was going to take out the "mud line bones". I had no idea what he was talking about so he showed me. Wow, was it simple to do. The "spike" bones are small, I would notice them every now and then and thought I just missed some of the rib bones. I've been cleaning fish for over 25 years and never knew about it. I found the below web page that shows you how to do it. Very simple and easy. Now 100% bone free fillets!
