A good spoonplugging boat

Post by fishrman »

I'd like some help (guidance) in selecting a boat suited for sponplugging. What is the best length? beam? motor horsepower? 4 stroke? Any recommendations?

I fish all kinds and sizes of lakes and reservoirs, from 300 acres to 50,000. What is a good all around boat?

Thanks,

Jeff

There are so many boats that will do the job. You must consider what bodies of water that you are going to fish and go from there. Here is a guideline. A 14 foot jon boat with a 15 hp is the very best. For every foot of boat that you add and every size horsepower that you go up, you will do a worse job of trolling. There are so many good boats and motors out there that you could talk for a week on them. Make sure that you satisfy yourself when you make your purchase. That is the most important. John
