Saw Terry's post on the basics and the vid from Don Dickson on boats.
I originally had the smaller 15' boat. got caught in a storm on Mille Lacs.
Decided if I was going to fish big water I needed a larger boat.
Sold the 15' and in 1998 bought the larger 16'. Last year I updated the
electric motor with one that has the virtual anchor/spot lock. No more
yoyoing the anchor to change casting positions.
This is my Cadillac, if it looks like rain the Cadillac stays in the barn and I take the Chevy
Don't care if it gets wet.
Saw Dave Reeds post on wire.
If he wants to run wire he should go out with someone that knows how to use wire.
Most of the summer, wire is not needed. I only use wire very late in the fall after turn over when
the 40"+ northerns and Muskie show up on the 35' breakline. That breakline is only 100 - 150 yards long,
so I use wire to put the 800 in position with the shortest line possible.
Don always admonished "if you get an overrun with No-Bo you will have a birds nest, pick it out,
if you get an overrun with wire you will have a Brillo Pad and that's the end of that wire".
Need I say more?

I have pics of the boat but can't seem to load them to the post. Think maybe the files are too large.
Any help?

Put your pic into One Drive, then you can go in and edit to resize it for a Thumbnail or email size. Then simply copy it to an attachment on your post here.
I run wire out here more than any other line. Most all lakes are Highland or Canyon types with clear water. To me using wire is second nature. I run it year round for the most part, except in the spring.

Religion is a guy in church, thinking about fishing.
Relationship is a guy out fishing, thinking about God!

Re: Boats and Wire
Thanks for the help Steve.
Had to get my crack IT Dept. (wife) on this picture stuff.
I agree, in those canyon lakes wire is the only way to reach the fish.
Haven't had the opportunity to fish a canyon lake.
But running wire and running No-Bo are two different ball games.
As you can see these pics were taken late in the fall. That scum line will be removed before the boat goes into storage.
