Snow and Spoonpluggers
Don't know if you guys follow "Pluggers" - a comic strip, but this one seemed right on the money.

Re: Snow and Spoonpluggers
Thats me. It's getting better, mentally and physically. Two weeks ago we had 14 inches that wasn't going anywhere and the cold snap finally left us. Had some days in the 40's and then two days in the 50's and yesterday we had wind and 60 degrees. Snow is all gone, the ice on the lake took a serious beating(not safe now), and it has melted a foot or two away from the bank. We are close(a week or two) to having what we need to keep from going crazy. Winters are getting a little tougher all the time. John

I hear Florida is nice this time of year.
Think if I was retired I'd go even if I had to sleep in my pickup truck.
But that might would end up in divorce wife likes a nice comfy bed she's such a softy.

Lake St. Clair is worth waiting for. Puts those sissy giant Florida bass to shame. I hope you can find the time to join us to enjoy this great fishery. If you do it once, you will be here every year. Understand that weather and water can spoil the high hopes anywhere you might travel but if the stars line up, it is an amazing place. John

grew up in Newfoundland and South Dakota - happily retired in Tennessee!
Re: Snow and Spoonpluggers
Bad enough here in central IN - looking to possibly head further south now that I'm retired...or become a winter "snowbird." Wife and I are trying to decide best route right now.

Re: Snow and Spoonpluggers
Brian,
Get you a 5th wheel so you can Double Tow the boat. That way, you can go anywhere, North in the summer, South in the winter, West when ever, East to.......
Or, if wife can manage without those big 5th wheels, get a good Slide in Truck Camper.
Cathy thought she wouldnt like the Slide in, but now really loves it.
Mine is an Artic Fox 811 with one Slide out, and I have it set up to be totally off grid.
Something about not having to worry about a camp ground is refreshing.

It took me a long time to find it, but this is my solution. it's 17' long so can go anywhere a car can, and it is totally self contained

Steve
What size truck (chassis) do you have to carry the 811 Artic Fox slide in camper?
Thanks

Re: Snow and Spoonpluggers
I had a 2500 Dodge with a 360 gas motor which I put my slide in camper which by the way I loved. I worked at Starcraft Rv and we made them and got mine for cost. No shower which was a bummer but there are ways to clean up for a few days if not at a campground. I remember watching the gas gauge go down very quickly on my many trips to the Detroit River to catch musky, but once you got there, you were set. Got kicked out of a ramp one night by the DNR who said we couldn't stay there and said if we were there the next night, we would get a ticket. Thats Detroit I guess. John

Mine gets 14mpg with the Artic Fox and towing my boat. In the mountains, I get 12.

Marty,
Mine is a 6 speed automatic.
It also has the Iasin(sp) Transmission.
I also replaced the constant front wheel,4 wheel drive with new Lock Out Hubs.
Was hoping to get more fuel milage, but I don't think it helped but maybe 1 mpg., if that.
We have 4 Rams out of 6 in my Business Fleet.
One 09 gas truck. And the rest are 2500 Desiel.
Was always a Chevy guy until I got my 2012 Ram 2500. Now its Dodge all the way.
