Fully expecting something to have the deal fall apart so I haven’t said much. With the uncertainty in the world it has been challenging for the past few months I got to a point where I refuse to sit frightened. So push on with a large outrageous purchase!

Covid is real. Our business feels it intensely. But wtH! Wear a mask and wash your hands.

We closed on my Lake Mille Lacs house on Wednesday morning. Before signing all the paperwork we opened, ran, switched everything on. There was a fantastic surprise. Despite being there numerous times, the boat house was padlocked and I couldn’t get in. Well I got in...

First, being on the SE side of a huge lake the prevailing winds come right at us. So I was intending to buy a boat lift. I didn’t want to have to make a late at night run to the boat ramp because a storm would swamp my boat. Also being at the cabin by myself most of the time I didn’t want to trailer every day.

Then I found boat lifts cost $12,000-$18,000...yep I was going to use the boat ramp a lot. OK.

Flash back to wednesday, wife went into boat house and asked me what was in there...
It was a WORKING electric boat winch system that drags the boat into the house! Yea!

So...
I will have plenty of room for boats, tents, and healthy friends. Plans are to buy another boat for friends who don’t want to bring or don’t have a boat suited for big water (probably next year). Have 4 bedrooms, 3 bath rooms, a flat acre of space boat ramp less than a mile a way...

Fishing...
Smallies like Erie, Muskies over 60”, Pike to 50”, Walleyes despite not able to keep or even fish for in July are huge, giant perch and crappies, largemouth a plenty. No spraying...
It’s a big lake but there are some REALLY good lakes close by.

After signing all the paperwork wife and I got my credit cards smoking from buying furniture. We start moving In tomorrow.

Some pictures from the morning we closed...

Fran.

Congratulations!!! Good to know that you and Kelly finally found the perfect “cabin “ on the lake. I knew that you all have been searching for a lake cabin for sometime. Beautiful location and with great fishing. Every now and then patience and perseverance does pay off.

Take Care and Good Fishing,

Steve Fellegy started guiding at their family resort on Lake Mille Lacs at age 11. Steve in now 66 years old and he still guides on Mille Lac. Steve would agree with your comment about the northern's and muskies.

Congratulations Fran. It looks like a smart move on your part. Sorry you didn't buy that property on Lake Yale. But, it appears that I might become a reverse "snow bird" and move back to Madison during the summer. If this does come to fruition, I just might take you up on your offer and come up and see you.

I looked at the property on Yale for the past 3 years. Couldn’t get the financing straight. Then the one I almost could afford sold and the only other one I was interested in was waay too expensive. Even thought about getting a couple of lots. Then my life changed and I started flying again. Messed everything up.

With Covid, there is so much I am not doing. Figured I would move up there and fish when I wasn’t on computer fixing something. FlyIng a little bit now - after I closed of course but should be up there starting 3rd week of July.

Despite HATING ice fishing, I may be buying one of those trailers with holes in them. Might be able to tolerate that. We’ll see.
