Re: Pre fronts Post fronts

2 days post front has always been the toughest days on my waters, so I'd expect limited movement and stragglers...but I'll take a different tact and just refer to one of Buck's great articles. You and I shouldn't particularly care if the fish are under "good" or "bad" conditions....

Re: Study

You really got my head spinning now.... A few questions that come to mind are about the "Thermocline Wall". Could you elaberate on the type of lake you see this on? (Rivers seldom have stable enough waters for thermocline to set up) Have you seen multi layers of thermoclines ? It is that ...

Re: new technology

Just found this timely article on the Bassmaster website that's worth a read. I'm a bit of a fishing history buff, and I thought this article by Elite Pro David Walker covers the technology timeline well.

Ditto John. Pretty sure we're looking at the same spot. Even if this wasn't the contact point, I'd never drive by this spot without fishing it because it looks so "right" to me

Re: Intrepretation

I'll hazard a guess based on the drawings, though I don't see any other type "breaks" marked (large boulders, stumps, rockpiles, etc.) which could be key.

Re: new technology

Incredibly, but not surprisingly, Buck had thought of and predicted much of this, and shared his thoughts on the matter. A little eerie reading his words now almost 50 years after he wrote them, but at the same time, there's also a calming reassurance knowing he was fine with whatever came to pass. ...

Re: new technology

John, Thank God for winter, because I sure enjoy reading your thoughts when you have the time to sit down and make these type of posts  You've pretty much nailed it in my eyes. Buck said the original Spoonpluggers were the best, because they had to be. They didn't have the aids available to...

Re: Contour line fishing!

The below video link was posted on mystery Tackle box's Facebook page. I know that nearly all fisherman (except spoonpluggers) misuse the term structure , breaks and breaklines. I saw this video today and cringed while I was watching it. I guess you can't blame the kid that made the video, as Buck ...

Re: Trolling speed

New boat - sweet. I ran a 16' jon with a 9.9 for nearly 8 years before finally upgrading a smidge to a 16.5' deep-V due to getting older and safety concerns on highly trafficked waters around here. Very versatile. Congrats.

Welcome Brian, from another Brian. Glad to hear of your early success. It is a powerful motivator, so keep at it as things keep getting better as you gain more knowledge and time on the water.

Re: Trolling speed

I was thinking close to 3 mph or a little under seemed like the minimum. Would be pretty tough on an electric only pace unless you had one of the larger TM setups. You might have to switch over to some traditional crankbaits that will run at the right depth you need, but can be effective down to 1 m...
