Re: Spoonplugging Boat

Scott

Terrific remodeling job on the boat. Much improved over the original boats. Looks as if you are in good shape for years of Spoonplugging.

Re: Follower of Buck Perry for 50 years.

David You are absolutely correct!! That has been my point, along other Spoonpluggers, all a long. Those of us who had to learn Spoonplugging all by ourselves really and truly appreciate the information/opportunity afforded by spoonplug.net, “The National Spoonplugger” and the Spoonplugger community....

Re: Follower of Buck Perry for 50 years.

Bink When I said that Harold Eaton had a closet full of trial and error, I was referring to his search for a casting rod and reel combination that would cast Spoonplugs well. Hard to find. Finally found a recommendation from Don Dickson that a seven foot medium action casting works as good as any th...

Re: Follower of Buck Perry for 50 years.

Bink Actually I do care. One of Mr. Perry’s lasting admonitions to us is to keep in contact with fellow Spoonpluggers. No matter how much I know, there is always a fellow Spoonplugger who knows something that I don’t know. There is always something to learn about Spoonplugging. “Knowledge is the Key...

Re: Follower of Buck Perry for 50 years.

James

Thanks for the info on Dennis’ videos. Well done.

Question, where has he been?? I’ve been around Spoonplugging for a good while; I don’t remember seeing/meeting Dennis at any of the Spoonplugger Jamborees, or seeing him as a member of the National Spoonplugger.

Re: Bottom Bumping

TN Dave, fine suggestions and thanks for suggesting the National publication...it is greatly appreciated! Phil I have had a subscription to “The National Spoonplugger” newsletter, when is was available, since the early “70’s”. The newsletter is truly a treasure trove of information from Real Spoonp...

Re: Bottom Bumping

Dave Reed A few suggestions to lessen the learning curve of Spoonplugging; (1) The obvious, read and study Buck Perry’s written material (2) Sign up for “The National Spoonplugger” newsletter at nsoa.info (3) While at nsoa.info, check out the list of Certified Spoonplugger Instructors (CSI) and the ...

Re: Bottom Bumping

Guys

Words of wisdom (experience) from Champ!

The same technique applies to submerged brush, tree tops, and mucklines.

Yet another Spoonplugger lesson in depth control that I wished I had learned or known about years ago. Sure would have saved a lot of my Spoonplugs.

Thanks

Re: Finally…

Update: I found the original post; didn’t quite search far enough. My question is, does the hydraulic steering on the Mercury Big Tiller steering lessen the effort in controlling the outboard. The point of hydraulic steering is to make controlling the outboard easier, much like power steering on an ...

Re: Finally…

Question about hydraulic steering systems.
How does the Mercury Big Tiller operate??

Someone has posted about a Mercury Big Tiller on an Yar Craft Backtroller and spoke well of the system.

I did not find the post; apparently not searching correctly.

Fran

Thanks for the update on the new Yamaha. Yes, there is a big difference from expectations and actual experience. Or, there is a big difference from what is advertised and what is experienced when on the water.

Thanks again for the report and , as always, Good Fishing.

What is your opinion of the hydraulic steering on the 90 Yamaha now that you have fished with the new Alumacraft for a while??
