Re: John Bales Spoonplugging DVD's

SeaMonster, The DVD's are excellent. They are made to be studied, that is you can watch them over and over and still get something new from them each time. The DVD's will be more informative if one has studied the "Green Book". Buck Perry's "Spoonplugging, You Guide To Lunker Catches&...

Re: Greetings

Adding a bit to what John said, get the "Green BooK", otherwise known as "Spoonplugging" "Your Guide to Lunker Catches". The book and the "Home Study Course" are available from BucksBaits.com.; and Buck's Baits is running a special on the book and the Home Stu...

Re: fathers day morning on the water

Brett, Terrific video. One suggestion (from personal experience) is to put a life jacket on the older son. Little ones can inaverdently fall out of the boat. With the life jacket on you simply pick them up and dry them off. Other wise you can have full blown emergency with a small child in the water...

Re: Did You get your boat fitted out Jim Shell?

Jim, I checked my 2005 Honda, 50 HP, tiller is the same length 28", as your 40 HP. The new Honda 60 HP has the updated tiller handle (similar to the Yamaha) and it is the same length. Evinrude makes one the neatest tiller handle for the 15 HO outboard; but still uses the old style tiller for th...

Re: boat dealer rant...

Jim, Thanks for the insights on the difference between the E-Tec and the Honda 60HP. Monetary exchange rates can make a big difference in the price of Japanese manufactured goods. Anxious to hear your first hand report of the first trip with the new boat and new motor. Amazing what Spoonpluggers go ...

Re: boat dealer rant...

Good advice for all of us. Seems there is something about trying to buy a tiller handle outboard that brings out the worst in dealers. Takes some searching to find a dealer that knows how to properly install a tiller handle. Most of the time it is just simple plug in. Wish you well, Jim Keep us post...

Re: Feeder Creek Exposed on Douglas lake, neat picture

Kenny and Steve, Thanks for sharing the information. I never questioned Mr. Perry about his statements either, just listened, and did what he said. Kenny, you are right, Douglas Lake is the only TVA lake that I know of that is drawn down that drastically. Other TVA lakes do have winter draw downs (f...

Re: A prayer

BassDawgie, A very powerful and heartening message for all of us! Seems as if the last few months have been an open season of troubles for a lot of us. Seems as if the best folks I know have had just about, if not more, than they could handle in their lives; and were doing everything they should be ...

Re: Canyon Reservoirs

Brother Steve, Yes indeed, God's creation is fantastic! Watching the video again, I am amazed at the scale of the canyon. Jim Vaughn's article were dead on accurate; it is just hard to imagine something like that if one has never seen/fished a real Canyon Type reservoir. However, the color video doe...

Re: Canyon Reservoirs

Steve, Wow!!! An excellent video. Just like Jim Vaughn's drawings and articles of the Canyon Type lakes in the old "Fishing Facts" magazine. However, the color video sure does help with the understanding of how these slides occur. Good Stuff! Makes me appreicate the "shallow" bre...

Re: JB2 Catch

Steve, Don't know about a reply from Douglas. However, I would guess that the hunting of the varmits in Arizona is similar to the problem with coyotes we have in Tennessee. When the coyote first arrived in the area it was watched with curiosity. Unfortunately, with no natural predator of the coyote,...

Re: Depth Meters: the old needle units

Steve, Thanks for the lesson. While the use of the needle unit (the original depth meter) was straight forward; putting them into practice (at least for me) was eaiser said than done. Yes, indeed, hard lesson learned and a great experience!! Those exact line lenghts had to be adjusted constantly to ...

Depth Meters: the old needle units

Steve, Would you share with us how you use one of the needle units (the original depth meter) to find a 6" breakline in the Florida type lakes?? Good review of those of us who have been around for a while; and, might be interesting to some new Spoonpluggers who have never seen a needle type dep...
