Re: Mike Moran
I, too, was sadden to learn of Mike Moran's passing. If you knew Mike Moran, more than likely you have a Mike Moran story. This is my favorite. June 1991, Grape Hammock, Lake Kissimmee, Florida. Mike along with Richard Wehrmann [Mike's spelling] had driven down from Chicago. Mr. Perry and Miss Jeri ...

Ronnie, Welcome aboard. The closest CSI to you would be John Bales. Having spent several days in the boat and on the water with John, I would highly recommended him. John can get you up and running in the right direction. As I always say, training with John or any of the CSI's is time and money well...

Re: 6-2-13 lesson with John Bales
Brett, An excellent report and a good lesson for new and old Spoonpluggers alike. Take the time to schedule the Spoonplugging class with one of the CSI. The time and money spent will shorten the learning curve dramatically. If there is a "Secret to Success", it is this. We all know, or sho...

Re: Rods?????
Hey Spoonpluggers. Whats the difference in the heavy action rods and the regular action rods by Buck Perry? Thanks. Jim The Regular Action Spoonplugging trolling rod works well for just about any trolling situation. Some Spoonpluggers use the Regular Action Rod for trolling Spoonplugs, 500, 400, 25...

Kevin, The boat Don Dickson used, a15' version, was made by the same people, Troller Boats, Butler, PA. Owned by the Cronenwetts. The 15' boat was just an improved version of the original 13 1/2' Spoonplugger boat. Don and Tommy Ferenck got the Troller Boat folks to build a bigger boat so they (Don ...

Re: Feb 1980 part 2
Gary and Steve, You are right. Mr. Perry in the Spoonplugger boat was photo to be used in the sales brochure for the boat. The boat was small, 13 1/2 feet. While the boat did handle easily, the quality of construction was sadly lacking. I had the whole rear section of the floor come completely out o...

Re: Spoonpluggers across America
Bill, I remember hearing Buck say one time, that if he had it to do all over again, he would not have start his "preaching" in that part of the country. No one would listen in the south. Too set in their ways he said. It wasnt until 1957 when he went to Chicago that people began to listen...

Re: Scam Emails
Marty and Kevin, Thanks for being responsible children and looking after your parents! For those of us who have been down that road it can be difficult. You have to be vigalant all of the time, I checked on my folks on a daily basis, to monitor mail and bills that needed to be paid. (Fortunately, I ...

Re: 8 years old for the forum!
Jim, Thanks for all of the hard work with the Spoonplugger Board. For those of us who grew up in the Dark Ages, the information on the board is almost beyond comprehension. (I used to think the greatest thing in the Spoonplugging world was Buck Perry's articles in "Fishing Facts".) The Boa...

Re: Buck Talks Fishing August 1977
Jim, A BIG THANK YOU for posting the Original "Fishing Fact" articles by Mr. Perry. I, too, lost my copies over the years. The "Fishing Facts" articles are some of the best writings by Mr. Perry. Never thought I would be able to read them again. The articles are the reason a lot ...

Steve and Gino,
Thanks for sharing your stories. Success comes from hard work not a government handout.
Yet again, Spoonpluggers, Steve has shared his hard earned knowledge with us. Do not be fooled, Steve is simply telling us what is in the law (Obama Care) that was passed by Congress.

Red, What kind of rig are you running?? Check your prop, you can change speeds a lot by adjusting the prop. Also, get a GPS to accurately check your speed. 6 MPH at 1,000 RPM's sounds a bit fast...should be about 2.5 to 3 mph. Also, depending upon your boat brand, check the boat manufacturer's websi...

Another white/sandy in this part of the country is Grenada Lake, Mississipi. One of Mr. Perry's favorite lakes for fall fishing. He planned his trips after the lake was drawn down to winter pool level. Don Dickson has a Spoonplugging tape made on Grenada at winter level, also. Grenada is most notabl...
