Re: Mr. Perry's video's

Steve, You picked up a treasure trove of information in those tapes!! A suggestion; if you have access to convert the tapes to DVD format, please do so. The tapes were not of the best quality when new, although the information is priceless.( now, mine are starting to show much wear.) The DVD's will ...

Re: Bumblebee

Fran, If I remember correctly, the only Bumble Bee boat owned by a Spoonplugger was Alan Bales. There may have been one other Bumblee Boat, can not recall. From my experience with tri-hull boats (Troller) they were OK to a point; but the boats could not handle the big water like your AlumaCraft does...

Re: Is E 15 just around the corner?

Fran, I am far from being an ethanol expert; but this is what I have gathered by reading from the sites of the major outboard engine makers. Most outboards can run on the E-10 gas (10% ethanol, 90% gas) without problems. All the outboard makers warn of using any gas blend higher than E-10. Damage to...

Re: Is E 15 just around the corner?

Andy, Thanks for the post on pure-gas.org. I have used the site to locate gasoline without the ethanol. A couple of things about the gas (1) check the pure-gas.org before heading out to buy gas, stations will stop selling the gas from time to time due to their suppliers and (2) Most Importantly, che...

Hand Care

As we all know, our hands take a beating in a day's fishing, especially in cold weather. I have tried various hand care products over the years with little, if any, success. Saw an item mentioned in "In-Fisherman Magazine" called "O'Keeffe's Working Hands". Best hand care product...

Re: Line counter reels

Douglas,

Is that photo reversed?? I know the photo used to run in the old "Tan Series" newsletters, and I have always thought the photo did not look quiet right. Douglas you look fine, but I do remeber you wearing your watch on the left arm.

Re: Fall fishing conditions

Douglas, From the great articles by "The Lone Fisherman", whom I wold like to see ride again, to the harmonica blues, to the outstanding fishing; you never cease to amaze! Looking forward to visiting at the new Jamboree 2010. I always enjoy the stories about the Spoonplugging Days gone by....

Re: Fall fishing conditions

John and Fran,

Well said, and a good reminder to all of us...it does take time and effort to be a Spoonplugger.

Good Fishing,

Re: Wire Line....

Jim, I agree with Charlie. I switched to the 20# Stainless Steel [Buck's Baits] wire several years ago. Found the 20# eaiser to handle with fewer kinks and fewer lost lures. One still has to use reasonable care in handling wire line regardless of line size. Refer to Buck's instructions for wire line...

Re: Bass Island poachers update/ Wisconsin poachers

Bink Thanks for the report. I had talked with those "fisherman" at South Bass Island; they were thinking that they would pay a fine; but would get their boats returned. WOW!!! Expensive fishing trip for "free" fish. Breaking the law is never the right thing to do. If they needed ...

Re: Sale pending

Gino, Nice boat, it is just to big!! Forgive me, I just had to say that. Seriously, a smart, intelligent choice for the waters being fished. I like to fish; but the idea is to arrive back at the launch site in one piece so that I can fish again another day. Does the motor have power steering?? Good ...

Re: Ethanol problems with 2 strokes

Bink,

Thanks for the listing of the "Ethanol Free" gas stations. Be sure to keep the Sta-Bil Marine Formula in the gas at the correct porportion.. The Sta-Bil really works. {Keeps the ethanol from absorbing water}

Re: Ranger for sale

I have owned and Spoonplugged from a Ranger Fisherman since 1987. Although Mr. Perry was unmerciful in his criticism of the boat , gruffly saying, "It's just to big"; the Fisherman has served me well. [ My original Spoonplugging boat was two of the infamous 13 1/2 footers] Even a well know...
