Re: Weather and water volume four page 16
John, Good post on the nature of water, tech, and always having more to learn. The other quote that jumps to mind is from Mr. Perry's "Greatest Words" speech (Intro to Depth and Speed video) regarding what he chose to put into his writings, and why he kept his material broad in nature: &qu...

Re: Mapping and Interpretation
Ken, Enjoyed reading your report! A couple nice fish and how you did it are proof enough you are doing a bunch of things right. Sounds like you had a good story for the grandkids when they arrived...and those questions/reflections headed back to the dock give you food for thought for the next trip! ...

Re: SPEED CONTROL
Walt, Thanks and of course as a Spoonplugger you know right away what saved the day...being able to convert what was planned as a musky trip into a productive bass trip without doing anything differently (!) other than driving to a different launch and being able to lip the fish  BTW-I understa...

SPEED CONTROL
Speed Control (Depth/Speed/Lure/Line) - Thought I’d drop this in here…Seems speeds have been faster this summer. The good water color (at least around Chicago), fast trolling speeds, skinny weeds and no spraying on some favorite lakes have made these HOT days (and the ones in between) a lot of fun. ...

Re: Buck Sez...
“Most fishermen live in a very small fishing world.” In nine words he explains: 1-the root of the problems he saw (fishermen with limited success or independence due to lack of true knowledge, or exposure to different fishing situations), 2-the solution he chose (an approach intended to help anyone ...

Re: The drop shot
John, Can you comment on how you look at a weedline configured like this? I noticed on your map there is only a 2 foot depth range in the side view 15’-17’ to describe this weedy fishing situation at #1 and #2. You seem to really narrow it down. It would be normal for this lake to seem like just a b...

Re: The drop shot
Looking at the side-view and just the 18’ hole, thinking the bass should be scattered all around the breakine marked in orange. With a small change in depth the end of the weeds will be kind of messy past the tall weeds, but still useful. Bass would be scattered “here and there” in this stretch at t...

Re: Bucks Baits SpoonPlugger 101 reel for sale
These cool direct-drive collector reels were re-stickered True Temper 940f. I have a couple of those TT’s purchased on eBay and an owners manual. Those funny holes are for a special wrench, I believe, so looks good. Its the reel Terry O’Malley was using in the Florida Lake Apopka video. The old Fish...

Re: The drop shot
Really good article, John. The Drop-shot has been a game-changer for me for checking the deep weedlines for bass. For my lightweight boat set-up (Troller) it's just very efficient. The weight gets right to the bottom and stays there yet the bait remains active and visible to the fish. Because of the...

Re: Buck fishing Crab orchard lake
This is spooky!!! I found this article only last week doing a google search and ordered a copy of Fishing Southern Illinois used. I received the book YESTERDAY! Just this morning, I sent a note to Brett C and John B and was going to bring this up at this week's meeting. Then at Noon, I checked the w...

Casting Spoonplugs
Gentlemen, In his video “Buck Talks Tools Parts 1 & 2” Mr. Perry states, “The size lure that I use when casting to deep water is going to be controlled by...how much water I have under the boat.” The angle of retrieve, and the depth you are trying to reach, are both part of the picture. But the ...

cold water-walking lure
One of our top Spoonpluggers, upon making a fine catch in cold water, noted that Mr. Perry had written that a walking lure (slow and steady) was even more important in the cold water season...interesting to consider why this would be the case. Comments?
