on the information you have shared since Buck's guidebook does cover trolling the 500 SP, but I did not find information that explained casting the 500 SP with it being so small. There's a reason it's not the best tool for the job. I troll a 500 a lot but cant think of the place I would ever use it...

Depends on a couple things... If I'm only there for one day and not familiar with the lake I wouldn't go past the last break/breakline.
