Re: Countour trolling

How many on here know that this subject is in the material? Believe me.......if I cant contour troll below 40 feet, then I am in big trouble in these deep highlanders here. Yes it is hard, yes it can be done, and yes it is a pain in the neck to do. But if you cant find the "spot" or what K...

Re: Our government wants us to stop fishing

Sorry, Fran, You may want it to be a hoax, but it is not. On the news everywhere. This crap can now go into effect just by Executive order. Anyone want to make a guess BO signs the paper or not? All recreational fishing; people, industry, ALL have been left out of the process for a reason. Purely be...

Re: 12lb wire line

Andy, 17 is good all around wire. I have used it for most of my fishing life. 12 pound is like Charlie said, for more snag free type waters. I have found myself going to 12 more and more out here, due to running lures as deep as I can get them. Kinks are always a problem, but they can be over come w...

Re: Side scan depth finders

LOL There is nothing wrong with technology, be they rods, reels, boats, motors,or electronics. What we need to keep in mind is that we need to remember to use all this "stuff" as an aide. If it begins to take you away from the basics of Spoonplugging, then it can be bad for you.Like Gary sa...

Re: Res fishing

Very good answers, and I hope Lurker has his questions answered. If not he needs to post or get back to me one way or the other, please. Lurker#2 asks....... When working the upper portions of the resevoir at the head waters for walleye and pike, in early spring after the ice goes off, with more tha...

Res fishing

In the deep water thread, I made a comment that anyone that wanted me to post a question for them, that I would be happy to do so. It seems it didnt take long. A lurker asks: " in any manmade lake, where there is a large sweeping bend of the original channel, leaving a long flat a quarter to on...

Re: Fishing Deep

"Wasn't Bucks deepest catch on Lake Mead. Something like 135 feet? Terry said he casted an SJ and got a bass." I believe you are correct. "Something else that I remembered from the videos was that everything was covered in some kind of moss. Due to the clear water." Some lakes ar...

Re: Fishing Deep

"Once I move off the structure and go deeper due to lack of success, I have a predetermined amount of passes I want to make and at what depths." This is a great statement, and one that we all should keep in mind. I have a feeling that this is one of my problems. I now believe, due to your ...

I also found this post back a couple of pages from John Bales "Jim Shell did a great job setting this board up. Anyone who is interested in becoming a better spoonplugger can ask any question and very likely get the answer from someone on this board. This can be valuable information for a new s...

"San Carlos Lake what's that lake like?" It was one of the best! Key word..."was". As of today, it is down to 1% full!!!! They drained it! Makes me sick. "put your nose to it and figure it out." That is exactly what I am trying to do, by asking these questions here. I w...

Re: Learning from low water levels ?

tahogg, First welcome to the board and the world of Spoonplugging. Yes, you should ride around your lake and "map" it at the low water levels. This is wisdom. You should draw a picture of each structure situation you find, noting breaklines, breaks, drop offs etc. You can actually move roc...
