Re: new technology

The accuracy of GPS is dependent on how many satellites your unit is in contact with. The more, the better the accuracy. The old units were terrible as far as how close you could return to the "spot". Not so with these new outfits. It is unbelievable how close they get. 2-5 feet is the nor...

Re: Slide/Wash Pic

Dennis,
It breaks at 25 directly into 60 feet, at normal pool all the way into the channel. And only 2 boat lengths from shore.

Right now this lake is down 32 feet! So it is all out of the water right now!

Slide/Wash Pic

Here is a typical Canyon/Highland type wash. The photo is not the best quality, as it is an older pic, but it shows the "Dirt" in and otherwise solid rock environment. There can be many or few in these types lakes. Buck always said to spend some time driving the lake to find them, as all a...

Re: Lets try another

John Thanks for your comments. I agree with you 100%. I too use my Flasher for all my mapping. As good as the new Finders are, they simply do not compare to what a Flasher will show about the breaklines and following one. Downscan is wonderful for showing the breakline, but forget it for trying to f...

Re: Lets try another

It is a very good spot! Several bass caught here in the last few years. The biggest fish I have ever caught,( in this lake), came off that spot. She would have went over the 10 pound mark, I have no doubt. But I lost her right at the boat. To say I wanted to cry is an understatement. But you go forw...

Lets try another

Here is one of those big washes that come from the heights and over time dump sand, gravel, and "dirt" into the lake below. This one is BIG. 40 yards wide, and the end of the bar that was created goes over half way across the lake before droping into the Main Lake Channel. It had to take 1...

Re: Intrepretation

D-Wayne, Like I posted to Brian, He has the correct areas marked. But i will take your points here: There are zero weeds. This is a Canyon/Highland lake. Mostly solid rock walls, but with some areas of "dirt". The food base is Shad and Crawfsih. It is a Clear water lake for the most part. ...

Re: Intrepretation

Pretty good Brian!!! The Pine Cove Bar is right on! In fact, Larry Barr and I took a few nice fish off that exact spot last year. One of those Buck Perry deals where I put my finger in the water and told Larry that this was the contact point and then dropped a Spoon over the side and took a 4 pounde...

Re: Question

Ill give it a shot. For Bass... I would pick a Smaller, shallower lake to start as probably it would warm up first. Id find where the deep water holes are in the lake. If I had a bar close by, I would start there. Id check out the shallows, briefly, then go directly to the deepest spot in the hole. ...

Re: new technology

""You've pretty much nailed it in my eyes. Buck said the original Spoonpluggers were the best, because they had to be. They didn't have the aids available to them to figure all this stuff out, so they did it the long way through sheer desire, effort and perseverance. Technology has made to...

Geez Jim! Hope he is OK.
That looks like a pretty bad cut. Your calmness had to keep him from freaking out for sure.
I have a feeling He will be back in action pretty quick!

Re: What color Senko is best?

I have a question for you Mike. I noticed your Signature line. It says you love Spoonplugging. If that is the case, that would mean you must have read Bucks book or his material? If that is the case, then why on this earth would you ask the question you just asked? Jim gave you basically Bucks TEACH...

Re: New From Southern Michigan

Welcome Hal!
Nice fish BTW.
Catch up to a couple Spoonpluggers near you and go with them. Better still, take instruction from John or Chase. You will be a light year ahead if you do.
Again, welcome to the best place to learn about fish and fishing!
