Re: Muckline

Well said Fran. You said in just a few words the point i was trying to get across. The unit HAS to be set up perfectly in order to see the Muck. The muck in Florida is like no other. I cant recall seeing it anywhere else. Far different than out here, or in Indiana, or even in Canada. They all have m...

Re: Muckline

I remember my unit looking somewhat different., But it could be the way i set it up. Its been a while. I thought my Blue color was on top of the harder yellow/orange. Here is a screen shot of Kenny's unit. If you look close, you can see some of that mucky mud lightly floating or drifting just above ...

Re: Muckline

I appears to be just a transition from hard bottom to harder bottom. i could be wrong. It is easier to see on a Flasher. By adjusting your gain, you can set it to show a weak signal when over hard bottom. As you come over the muck, that weak signal will disappear. Most depth finders will still show ...

Re: Straining the shallows

I believe that Kenny was confused by the question. He like all other good Spoonpluggers, knows that once we get below 10 feet, our lure had better be on the bottom.
He and I have fished that lake several times together.
Kenny k owns the deal.

Re: Straining the shallows

Mike, There are two ideas going on here. When you are in the shallows, 0 to 8-10 feet, the fish will take a free running lure, both casting and trolling. If you are trolling and you are bumping bottom, you are trying to find the "contour" or shape of the bottom. We contour troll to find &q...

Re: Nickajack

Mike This lake is like many others on the Tennessee River system. It is a Delta lake, just like Old Hickory. Any man made structures should be checked, and spend some time at the feeder channels right where they cut through the Main Channel. "Shoot the works " in the presentation of lures ...

Re: people

"" At the Old Hickory outing, I did not see anyone map anything. To a casual observer, it looked like any other fishermen trolling, just using different lures. I also did not see anyone start in the shallows with a 500. Those that posted the big fish started out deep and stayed there. Noth...

Re: people

So, are spoonpluggers made, or are they born with what it takes to become successful fishermen? Even here, Buck had the answer. But, his response was so succinct, that it could easily be overlooked by the reader. When Buck Perry stated “it takes a strong desire to catch a fish”, he was speaking abo...
