Fran- thanks for sharing. Looking forward to hearing more of what you learn. You will undoubtedly learn a lot as you work the structures you are targeting. Mille Lacs is a massive lake with unique weather and constantly changing water conditions. I admire your tenacity to figure it out.

Re: Mille Lacs 7-29-22
Who is that masked bandit stealing smallies? Lol Calmer lake that day. Well done and fun to watch you work that bar. Catching a crayfish is proof positive you are tapping the bottom. I caught one trolling on Leach a couple weeks ago and as soon as I threw it back in the water a fish came up a swallo...

Re: The man Buck Perry
I can’t say that I’ve experienced it John but I’m doing the work to get there. I’m going for 3 days to northern MN next weekend for musky opener. My friends will be banging the banks but I’ll be alone in my boat trolling breaklines and learning the lake. I won’t be focused on musky. I’ll be focused ...

I enjoyed the video too Jerry. Thanks for putting it together. Loved the trick of using a hookless crank bait to get your spoons deeper.

Re: Migration route
That was a fun video. Thanks for sharing. For us Northerners sitting here twitching our thumbs while the ice is holding us back, that was especially inspiring to watch. I sit here thinking about what I learned last season… and more importantly what I didn’t learn and I ache to be back on the water. ...

Welcome Illinois. If you’re teachable and put in the effort you will learn more and become a better fisherman.

Re: Migration route
Thanks for sharing. Watching that bass follow the breaks was super cool. It also reinforced for this newbie that it doesn’t have to be a huge rock, bush or tree - just a difference in the bottom as those small rocks proved.

Re: Bottom Bumping
It was the people who would fight and srtuggld with the whole process of helping their dogs be all they could be. there are no short cuts in sucessful dog training or Spoonplugging.... Hal, that is true in so many disciplines in life. One of the things that attracted me to spoonplugging, this forum...

Pretty fish Jerry. I’ve never been on DR or LSC but it’s on my bucket list.

Re: Snow
The good news about large amounts of snow is that the snow provides a blanket over the ice on the lakes - slowing the expansion of the ice. It can help toward an earlier ice-out. Best of luck, John.

Re: Jerry Borst rock fishing
Jerry,
I saw that on your YouTube channel yesterday. Hilarious. Further proof that Buck had it right - “all success or failure in catching g fish can be answered by depth and speed”. Reminds me as a kid when I ran out of worms and started using my mom’s hotdogs. It didn’t slow down my catch rate.

Re: Jerry Borst
Thanks Jerry and John. I appreciate your insight. I met John Bales at Fran’s lake place last summer and he said essentially the same thing that Jerry said “you’ll lose some friends and find some new ones”. Haha. I don’t care if people attack me when I’m successful (well, maybe I do but I’ll learn). ...

Re: Jerry Borst
Thanks Jerry. That was very fun to watch. I’d love to pick your brain about barotrauma. Not so much for Lakers but rather for Muskie. I’ve been sharing what I learned from studying and spoonplugging (1st year) with my Muskie friends. They basically are ready to kick me out of MN if I fish for them i...
