Re: Penn Peerless

The 9M is comparible to the 109. The only difference is the handle doesn't turn when you let the line out.

Re: Movement Times

Rodney, Everyone has given you great advice. But even if you are doing things " kinda " right, a LOT of fish are going to get in the way. The first season spoonplugging, I caught more fish than I did before - EVER. I know I wasn't doing very much right. Keep in mind early season can be cha...

Re: Movement Times

Rodney WELCOME! First before you do too much, reread the seasonal movements section again. Seasonally the fish are going to be in the side feeder creeks. If you are fishing in the main channels then you're in the wrong areas. Second, there will generally be some fish around most of the time. The 2 m...

Vexilar

I have two boats. On the big boat I have an FL-18 with a dual cone transducer. On my john boat I have an FL-12 with the single 16 degree transducer. John and I disagree about the dual cone transducer. I don't think it's necessary and he thinks it's worth the extra money. Having used it, I am not cer...

Hello, It only sounds like I am smacking you down, I am not. But Spoonplugging has RULED in Florida. Many lakes yielded Frightening catches when others didn't catch anything. Read the books, follow the guidelines and with some time on the water you should have a good time. I think you are new and th...

Buck actually guided there. And I know Terry O'Malley has a lot of information on it too. You are right about the channels. I heard Terry talking about them being the best places to fish. Also I know that the state cleaned out the canals you are talking about with heavy machinery to clear out the mu...

Denny, I absolutely LOVE the boat. I wrote an article for the last Newsletter but it didn't make it in. I will send it to you. I don't have 200 hours on it but I am working on it. I am still trying to get to your outing but I am not going to know for sure until real close to the dates. Talk to you s...

Re: Casting Spoonplugs

Fran; Regarding having trouble keeping spoonplugs bumping bottom on the cast their can be a few things that come into play. In my personal experience when you are anchoring deeper 8 to 10ft. because of a weedline, the size spoonplug you need will depend on the sharpness of the structure. For instan...

Casting Spoonplugs

I have been making a concerted effort to cast more. Yesterday I went to a lake that gets significant plantings of Tiger Musky. I loaded up my Jon Boat (FANTASTIC BOAT!!!) and went about learning the lake. Weeds are experiencing a die off so there are significant floating rotten pods of weeds floatin...

I have been experimenting with one 109 filled with 65 pound PowerPro in place of a NoBo. Spoonplugs are going deeper than normal with standard lengths. 3 layers LESS give the correct depth. There have been some problems. When bumping the lure can tumble and the hooks get caught in the line easier th...

Max Depth of 800

Morning, Mike and I went fishing on the St. Croix River on Saturday. After hitting some of my known spots, we went to a bar that I hadn't worked that much, but I know it produces. I just haven't been there when there was a movement. We followed the steps. Casted the shallows. Trolled the shallows. U...

Re: Looking for a Troller Boat w/tiller steering

Hello, I am looking for a Troller Boat w/tiller steering. I talked with Bob Warren, Bob Warrens Boats, and he said it will be another year until he has the necessary permits to begin manufacturing the Troller Boat again. I live in West Texas, and there' just not a good selection of fiberglass boats...

Delta

Bill,
I cold be wrong but don't the Delta's on Rhodiss go up to 6'. I honestly thought they did. But I haven't been back there in a while.

I don't remember the lure size but it wasn't bigger than a 200 and I really thought it was a 250.

Delta Situation

Jeremy, There is a point that you have to put the book down and get on the water. It isn't too late this year. Just take the first 4 sizes of spoonplugs with any old rod and troll as you have been reading about. As to the seat, find a milk crate. I understand about wanting to wait until next year bu...
