Re: Lake Okeechobee Spoonplugging

Dave, I think the biggest issue is terminology. Call it what you will. It may look to be just an angled flat but when you look at the BIG picture it appears like a structure situation to me. And if it is absolutely flat around this area for miles, then this is a KEY spot of the whole lake. And while...

Re: lake okeechobee spoonplugging

Dave,
I am not at all qualified to argue or explain this but your going to lose. I remember thinking that same thing but the structure is so subtle there is no other name for it. Especially when Mr. Perry showed it to them...

Re: Lake Okeechobee Spoonplugging

Kenny that story is one of my favorites. I heard it a couple of years ago and while I didn't know who the story came from, I always presumed it was Frank Hamil.

Re: Powerpro line

You may have started with a question but a lot of us have done the same thing. 2 years ago, I was like you - I loved PowerPro. Whatever the reasons I have changed my mind. I have switched to 12 pound NoBo but again there are trade offs. GINO, I have had the same issues with the 12 pound. Tie on a lu...

Re: Powerpro line

I absolutely agree with the depths achieved with PowerPro, I stopped using it for other reasons - previously described above.

Re: Powerpro line

I have been on the side of PowerPro before. But I changed. I started using it for leaders on my wire set ups and I loved it. I even dragged up a bed spring with it one time on the Mississippi River. I had a great year but then I started having problems... First I had a friend of mine cast a lure wit...

Re: Grand Slam

Bart,
You're going to have to come farther north some time. Lake Erie in May, Lake Erie the first weeks in October (I'm leaving saturday), the Indiana and Michigan outings. Really something to travel for.

Re: Should i fish for walleye?

Bucksnort- You will also want to read about the seasonal movements of Walleyein "The Book". I'm in the same boat, the Bass fisherman catch some big walleye's here, but nobody really fishes for them. This lake is deep (140'+) and clear, it is a highlander, but also has lowlander features i...

Re: Casting at new location

It's amazing how many people think there are fish all over a lake. Sure really small ones, but the majority of the "BIG" fish are in less than 2% of the whole lake. So Douglas it doesn' surprise me your maps are mostly causeways. In fact, your post just re-enforces my belief that I am doin...

Re: Casting at new location

Even if the cold front passes today, the first day after the front is generally not too bad. In fact some of my better catches were day after. We got into a school casting a couple weeks ago, 15 on consecutive casts. On the other hand I do straggler fish, and stick pretty close to the 10' breaklines...

Re: More questions

I plan to get the green book on Spoonplugging and I think I saw Tom Coleman's book suggested and Buck's other book on structure situations suggested also. What about the 8 volume guide that covers different parts of fishing??? The Buck Perry website that ESPN has all of this in a package for a good...
