Re: situation

Hey guys, This is something that I have experienced myself over the past few years. First year I concentrated on bouncing hard to just barely touching. I caught 1 fish in three days. Second year, I got the line length by bumping once then reeling in 2 or 3 turns. Catch went from nothing to 20 a day ...

Re: Our government wants us to stop fishing

I only look at the PETA ads for the naked women in them. But that's just because I am a dirty old man. I watched a Showtime Series that showed PETA kills more pets than the Humane Society. Hypocrites.

Re: Our government wants us to stop fishing

I was very skepitcal until I saw the Shimano guy. I don't exactly know what what these groups think but I remember the hubbub with the Indian netting issues in Wisconsin and Minnesota. It seems that there could be a civil war could start. I am just not sure where the big call to actions are. But I a...

Re: Our government wants us to stop fishing

Jim, I appreciate what your saying. But all the organizations except NOAA you listed are using publicists to push an agenda. There have been salmon and Redfish bans that have generated more hostility than this whole US ban and that is a regional thing that doesn't affect most people. A recreational ...

Re: Our government wants us to stop fishing

I have to admit that as much as I liked CNN years ago, I have grown intolerant of the news only channels. Self righteous hypocrites where the reporters get most of the time while the people who the stories are about get 5 or 10 seconds of severely edited tape. I don't care what a reporter thinks abo...

Re: Our government wants us to stop fishing

I have grown to hate the "Weather Channel" lately. Which is hard to say because I watch it so much. I swear if they don't pull Al Roker off there I will join a terrorist organization.

Re: Controls and Tools

Didn't Terry and Vic have a situation in Florida where they had markers in a circle around them? Seems like that every time they trolled they got a good fish or even a double but when they went to the cast they couldn't even get a weed. Funny how even when fish are very active they can be so picky t...

Re: Contour trolling

Getting back to contour trolling the deep... When we all fished the Detroit River we contour trolled the main channel in and around the the deepest holes. I think the depth ranges were 24 to 32 or 38 feet. These trolling passes could be MILES long. In fact I wrote about losing a bunch of 800's. I lo...

Re: Countour trolling

I have been reading this thread with interest. I know Steve has been interested in deep water because he lives in an area where the water is clear to extreme levels. Reminds me of a small segment on the "Today" program last summer when they talked about the water clarity of Lake Tahoe shri...

Re: Saddle vs Hump

Fran, Agree with more than one answer. Good for discussion. What are the dimensions of the structure, i.e. width of the bar E-W, width across the holes, length of the bar N-S, etc.? I didn't highlight anything; they were already there. Jim Using Google Earth: The distance of the base breakline is 3...

Re: Saddle vs Hump

I agree. They may not use the saddle. But when you hammer all those spots you highlighted (which I did my self a few years ago) and still not get anything, they have to be some where. Big structure - certainly more than one answer.

Re: Saddle vs Hump

Fran Now again I could be completely wrong on your map but Why is 63-66 foot so important if It does not go all the way to the shallows? If there are no breaks leading the fish to the 63-66 foot why would the fish travel over those flats to get there when they have a much quicker, shorter route? Bi...
