Doug,
I will be by myself. You're welcome to a seat in my boat. I will have all the stuff you need.

Re: Fall fishing conditions

I am not sure two 4-hour sessions really give you enough experience to really work much past the 200. So I will presume you have more experience than that. If not well...Keep working the smaller lures. Try going to the bigger lures somewhat carefully. I would NOT try wire just yet. Next I would find...

Re: Fall fishing conditions

We all have that Luxury thanks to Mr. Perry. 1. Go to your best structure 2. Find the fastest break, breaking into the deepest water in the area 3. Stay there to you run out of gas or it's to dark to safely put the boat on the trailer. Good Luck Bink Bink, Of course your right. I said luxury based ...

Re: Fall fishing conditions

feast or famine, mostly famine. I am in my 6th season and this is my first real fall experience and I couldn't agree more. Out three times this week "NO FISH". Don't take it personal. I have been gritting my teeth and staying with the first 3 sizes until i get more proficient with them, a...

Re: Line counter reels

This year I started using Okuma brand line counter reels. They seem much more rugged than the generic Cabelas ones I had before. They are $79. However if you go to the Bass Pro website you can get the a slightly less quality Okuma for 49 or 59 dollars. I have seen both together and would be happy wi...

Re: weather question

Thing about the weather is that farther you are from the original day the cold front passes the better you are. Remember that the stronger the front, the clearer the water, the longer the recovery time. So I would say that the answer to both your questions is "Yes". I would expect some fis...

Re: interpreting breaks

Re: interpreting breaks

Kurt, Your lure banging on the different stuff tells you what the things are. The more times you hit it from a number of different angles the more you learn about it. As to the modification of the boat... Personally I think if you modify a boat to do something other than what it's designed for you w...

Re: Large Flat

Hey guys, just reading your thread. Dont know muskies, but John hit the nail on the head about trolling. It is the ONLY way that I can understand what is going on in REAL TIME so to speak. It is the only true teacher that we have. It is the culprit for Depth and Speed CONTROL. As far as flats are c...

Re: Spoonpluggerville?

Hi Bink,
In the first edition of the green book (the leather bound one) buck writes about "Spoonpluggerville" It was in Nashville I think. They bought property and stuff and were waiting to develop it. The whole thing kind of fell apart when Bud died.

Re: Tohatsu engines.

If those were my choices and had the money, I'd get the Yamaha. I have the Nissan because I was experimenting with a Jon Boat and that was the cheapest engine available to me. If I could've gotten a Yamaha for the same price, I would have got that. However the Nissan 4-stroke has been bullet proof a...

Re: Tohatsu engines.

Maybe there has been a change with the Tohatsu motors. I know John has been trolling with his 50hp 2-stroke for 2 years and other than when he was being stupid - he never had a problem with it. Course he may have a good one but I have steered his boat and I thought it ran great - other than the nois...

Thanks Bink.
I was really wondering what the final outcome was going to be. I am surprised these guys got their trucks back.

Re: Tohatsu engines.

Hi Sandlapper, What John may have not said very clearly is that Tohatsu builds a number of engines for various companies. I happen to have a 9.8hp 4-stroke Nissan. Denny in Indiana has the 9.8 Tohatsu. They are identical and run nearly silently even at high RPM's. At the dock, at idle - you can't he...

Re: Large Flat

Hi Gino, You know it's funny. Your situation is similar to one that I have. There is a little lake that I fish that has muskies in it. Great water color (well less than 6"), good depth - sections over 45', and it gets stocked with muskies frequently. In doing my research of the contour maps I s...
