Re: In need of a boat
Thanks James, always helps to hear you made a good choice based on someone else's experience. I've also heard nothing but good about the Yamaha motors. Think the boat is scheduled to be built mid May. Hopefully have it for Zaborny's outing. My first Spoonplugging Boat was a Crestliner 16 Angler. I ...

Re: In need of a boat
Some things to look for with these boats... Rotten floor back by the motor. There isn't much space between the floorboard and the inside hull. It can feel pretty stiff but still be rotten. Blisters in the gelcoat. On the bottom of the boat it is possible for water to get in between the fiberglass an...

Re: Water Color
You know, it's funny you say that. There is a reservoir in Zimbabwe my friend was telling me had 40 pound Tigers. We are actually starting to plan a second trip to Africa I guess there are 40 pounders in Zimbabwe, then a little farther north there are Goliath Tigers which go over 80 pounds, and then...

Re: Water Color
It is going to be fun in many ways. We are not going to this reservoir however 2 of the 3 are dark yellow green with big populations of large Florida Strains. The last is a clear one with 15ft weedlines with Smallmouth. We are already talking about another trip in the future for a trip to Zimbabwe f...

Water Color
Some of you know I am going fishing in Africa in August. The few maps available are nearly identical to what is in the home study and who knows maybe I will do well. So some of my African Friends are in Botswana right now on a Bass fishing trip. I don't know how big the bass is but the important thi...

Re: In need of a boat
Last year there were several days where we were on Lake St. Clair with 30-45 mph winds and 4-6 foot waves. It is a completely different thread as to the WHY, but I will say this... Neither of us were in danger. We did get a little water in the boat, but not much. There is much more to this story but...

Re: In need of a boat
Did you look for another Ranger specifically or did you just happen to find this one?

Re: Buck on fishing lines...
My old Spoonplugger Needle Meter finally quit working. Maybe someone out there knows where I can send it to get it fixed? I now have 2 HDS Touch units. Just got a 12 over Christmas. Really makes a difference for my "old eyes" to be able to see. VERY simplistic to use this unit, and dont h...

Happy New Year
I've been kind of scarce lately but I am not gone. Things at work have been a bit crazy and I don't have much extra time. There are a lot of things that are going on but hopefully 2014 will be better than the last. I can't help feel deeply saddened by the recent loss of Mike Moran. Even more than im...

Re: Knowledge is the key to fishing success Part 1
This is an important 13 part series. It was the basis for the GreenBook.
As a young kid, I remember reading this series when it came out.

Re: Terror Threats, mid sized town GA
Jim, This section is meant for non-fishing, non-Spoonplugging topics. While I prefer to not get into political/religious arguments I see no reason why Ronnie can't post this subject in the pub. If you find the subject disagreeable, do what I do - leave the thread. And don't go into the threads you d...
