Re: Hamilton Lake
Jim, thanks for posting this. I'm on Hamilton for the next few days and plan to fish those same spots, which I partially mapped the one time I was here last year. Fished mostly shallow in spawning coves for the last two days but caught only a couple smaller bass and one good sized white bass. Weathe...

Re: Hamilton Lake
Jim, did you ever post the video you referred to in this? Couldn't find it. I'm going to fish this lake next week maybe and would like to see it. I've fished these two spots before, just once. I'll be there at the end of April and although I can't find any realtime data on water temperature for the ...

Re: Fishing water
I'll venture some input, at the risk of getting it entirely wrong... Screen Shot 2020-04-10 at 5.00.04 AM.jpg A is the most pronounced bar on the north side of that area so I'd be inclined to start there. It's big enough to troll too. B seems less pronounced but I'd check it too. D has a nice breakl...

Re: The Die hards!
Just saw this post, Jerry -- reminds me of when a couple of years ago I went to the ramp and decided to put the boat in even though the water -- at the ramp -- was covered in solid ice. The channel, however, was clear, and I could see it... The ice didn't look that thick. I figured the weight of the...

Re: St. Clair get together
John, I'm considering the St Clair trip but wondering if my 15-foot tri-hull Troller will be able to handle the water. I'm game to try it unless one of you guys experienced with that water advises me against it. I've read your posts about never being far from shore, so that will help. All of this de...

Re: Basic guideline
John, water temp on my home lake here in Indy (Morse) was 53 yesterday. I'm still learning about pre spawn fishing, so my question is, you mentioned 50 degrees being the temp they move shallow, is it just around 50, or does it extend into the mid or higher 50s? I've been out twice this week and have...

Re: Trolling speed
Vaguru, I feel your pain. Closest lake to me has a $20 launch fee ($35 on the weekend!) and I hate paying it, and this season I want to fish multiple times each week on this lake so I can get some experience with how the different times of year affect fishing and be on the same lake for consistency....

Re: Question about fish pathways on structure
Brian, caught a couple of adult fish on the structure to the right, only stragglers on the structure to the left.
One I caught 20 feet down near the circle you drew, the other a little north of that, also 20 feet down.

Re: Question about fish pathways on structure
Brian, are you saying you would be casting those positions in yellow, or trolling?
What does the "S" stand for?

Re: Question about fish pathways on structure
Thanks for the clarifications, Brian and Steve -- On this same topic, here's a screenshot of Lake DeGray in Arkansas, which I'll be fishing tomorrow. There are two structures in this section of the headwaters that interest me: One is the island on the left, with the associated saddle to the south of...

Question about fish pathways on structure
I've been a little confused about what constitutes "shallow water" that bass will use if they have the proper structure available. I have always considered structure that goes "all the way" to the shallows to mean, generally, all the way to the shore. But maybe I have that wrong....

Re: Ray Roberts Lake
Looks like a lowland lake. I like the east fork of the lake best. Simply for better water color and shallower depth, I would go up the east fork until depths in the channel were no more than about 50 feet and fish from there up until it got no shallower in the deepest parts than about 30 feet. I've ...

It's a deal. I'm planning to be in Chicago for a thing on Oct. 3 -- we could maybe do Monday Oct 2 or Wednesday Oct 4?
