Re: MY FRIEND JOHN BALES

Those are some very nice words from several great spoonpluggers and I am honored to know all of you. But you talk about me like I'm going to die tomorrow. Do you know something I dont? :)...... Maybe I should'nt have eaten that tripple burger king whopper for lunch. Kenny, it's time for payback my f...

Re: 12lb wire line

The guys are correct on everything that they have told you about the 12# wire. It gets you the deepest with a shorter amount of line but kinks are trouble and when using around weeds where there is a lot of ripping through or in a snaggy environment, you would want to go to the 17 or 20#. Wire is fo...

Re: rod questions

Woody, It is hard to modify a rod that is used for casting into a trolling rod if you dont know what you are looking to get out of it. I have seen it done and they will work but there are several things to consider. Will it stand up to the stress? Will you cut it off at the right place so you will g...

Re: No-Bo line life

My neighbors know me well already. The first day that we moved in, the one neighbor came over and bitched about how the former owner mowed his lawn. Too short in the summer and it was all burned up and brown while both neighbors lawns were nice a green and well taken care of. I told him that he shou...

Re: No-Bo line life

You will note that fresh no bo is very clear looking. With age it will look a little more white and less clear. The break test Jerry is talking about works good. I replace mine when it starts turning a little white instead of clear. My wire gets used till it is so springy I have trouble letting it o...

Re: rod questions

Woody, I use rods made by Buck's Baits. They are built with the right action for the right feel and they are durable and will last for years. Use the regular action for the smaller lures and the heavy's for the large lures. John

Re: Side scan depth finders

I had a yellow lab for 14 years and took him fishing on our lake all the time. His first time out he got excited when I was fighting a fish and into the lake he went. That was the last time that he went all the way into the lake. I used to take large buzz baits and cut the hooks off and he would cha...

Re: Side scan depth finders

If the guy wouldnt have eaten the last piece of bread, he could have just sat it on top of his unit and it would have soaked up all the water. Never eat your last piece of bread. A good lesson. John

Re: lake okeechobee spoonplugging

David, It is material that was put together that was given to students in and around the time period when Don Dixon was doing the on the water teaching. Dont quote me on this for sure. There are a few comments (not many) that he makes that are no where else to be found but nothing major. He talks ab...

Re: lake okeechobee spoonplugging

Here is what Mr. Perry told me. The reason he put the brown cyprus being the worst is because of a lack of depth in the Florida lakes. Depth is the real key here. It is all about weather and water conditions. It wouldnt matter if a lake is in Florida or Wisconson. If a fish does not have depth to of...

Re: lake okeechobee spoonplugging

Great stuff fellows. How you doing Jerry? Spnglr; Not sure what you were asking from the natural lake guys. Are you speaking of situations where the breaklines are far apart such as in the florida lakes? We have the same thing right here in Indiana. I fish a shallow dishpan lake that has a dark yell...

Re: lake okeechobee spoonplugging

David, Stubborn may not be the right word to describe you. Most of my learning experiences have come from making mistakes. Mr. Perry's written material can be compared to what is in the Bible. Not from a biblical standpoint but ones interpretation of it. A lot of the material will not be understood ...

Re: lake okeechobee spoonplugging

TO ALL WILL LISTEN TO THIS VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE; Kenny is 100% right. David, you obviously have not fished any of the Florida lakes or you would never make such a statement. First of all, every lake is different. This is why Mr. Perry discusses many lake types. A fisherman must know what lake type...

Re: lake okeechobee spoonplugging

Florida boy, You had better listen to this fellow. He must be a great spoonplugger but since he does not sign his name, I cannot give him the credit for which he deserves for this information. Do not take his information lightly. He is giving you information that you may or may not deserve. The stuf...
