Merry Christmas to all

Hope all of you have a wonderful and safe holiday. The weather has been a bit warmer and that has allowed us to get in a few more trips on the water. Dan Luley and I have been beeting up on some bass in a deep clear lake not far from home. We have caught 220+ on our last three times out. Nothing ove...

Re: Flood Plain Reservoirs

Brett, Your second paragraph leaves me with a smile on my face. Why? I knew the day that I had you as a student that you would be a hard worker and had the fire in your eye. The things that you learned and your desire to learn them is what is missing in the fishermen who do not experience the succes...

Re: Kiwiat on my way home for Vacation

Josh, Just a short note about one spoonplugger. James Taylor.......... He won a 200 dollar navionics chip that he could have used in his depth finder. When the time came for giving for a good cause, I saw Jim hesitate for just one moment. Do I keep it or do I give it to the kid for a great cause? He...

Mr. Perry's video's

Deb and I cleaned up the mud room today and threw away a bunch of stuff. The horders show missed the boat on this one. I found extra's of Mr. Perry's video's and if someone makes me an offer on the whole batch, I'll ship them to you. Here is what I have. #10 Buck Talks-Back to basics-Keep your eyes ...

Re: Depth Sounders, Graphs, and Flashers

You can go through the presentation of lures to find the fish in what ever fishing situation you face or you can use your knowledge to interpret where the fish are and what you need to do to catch him. The first is a sure way. Sometimes the latter choice you may guess wrong. John PS. It is a mistake...

Re: Depth Sounders, Graphs, and Flashers

Josh, Yes Mr. Perry gave us our guidelines that will keep us out of trouble. After years of study on the material, it is amazing how you re-study something or come across a statement where it just blows you out of the water. You then ask yourself why when I read this before did I not feel this way? ...

Re: Depth Sounders, Graphs, and Flashers

Hey Steve, Long time no see. A channel within a channel. If you know it is there, just look at it as another break or breakline. If you have checked out the shallows out to the base breakline and you have not caught the fish, then it is time to go deeper. If you are aware that there is a channel wit...

Re: Depth Sounders, Graphs, and Flashers

Josh, Have eaten many of peanut butter sandwitches while learning. In the middle of the day when a man is starving, they taste like steak. The key word is depth. If you ever run out of guidelines and you have yet to check out in and around the deepest water, this is your last step. If I were to say ...

Re: Depth Sounders, Graphs, and Flashers

Josh, I wanted you to continue to think about finding these northerns other than the cast. Where would you look next and why. You would continue to troll but where would you look and would you go out there beyond the base breakline when there is no visable features that you can identify? In what dir...

Re: Depth Sounders, Graphs, and Flashers

Hi David, I might have been on shipshawana lake on that one but not sure. This lake has a very heavy thermocline in the summer at 8 feet. Yes this lake is only 17 feet deep and it does have a thermocline. Mr. Perry never said that to whoop a fall turnover to fish in 15 feet of water or less. During ...

Re: Depth Sounders, Graphs, and Flashers

Josh, Just call me John or worse. That will do. Most of the time, I want my sensativity adjusted as high as it will go without picking up a bunch of sediment or algae and then turn it down just a notch. No you cannot adjust your gain to where it will show you seperation of the bottom with a rock sit...

Re: Depth Sounders, Graphs, and Flashers

No depth meter of any kind will show a baseball sized rock lying on the bottom. Like I said, your anchor cannot be seen till its a foot to two foot off the bottom. So any fish that are not active and that are belly to the bottom will not be seen............ period and that goes for any depth meter. ...

Re: Depth Sounders, Graphs, and Flashers

Josh, You can buy a unit that offers both dsi and graph and maybe a flasher unit all in one. Might cost you a bit but then you can use what you like and get used to. A lot of what a person likes is how much you use it and then you either build confidence in it or not. Kenny loves his old unit and I ...

Re: Depth Sounders, Graphs, and Flashers

Would not get a dsi. why? Fish show up as little dots. You can hardly see them. Ask Kenny what he thinks of one. You never asked me what unit you should buy . John
