Re: Eating Freshwater Drum

I can tell you how a drum tastes. On a trip to lake Erie with a friend, we decided that we were going to try one. The guides on the Detroit River guide some of the Viet Nam people and they target the drum so we figured if they could eat it, we can too. I did not want to ruin our walleye meal so I co...

Re: John Bales - happy birthday!

Thanks to you all. I am so blessed to have found spoonplugging so young that I have been able to enjoy it for so many years. It has been a real pleasure. John

Re: In need of a boat

Bink, I will put some on there when I get it cleaned up. Fran let a bass actually touch the carpet and I need to clean up that spot first. :). I will post some pics soon. John

Re: In need of a boat

I cant add much to that. You can tell by the over all look at how it has been taken care of and what she has left. I have had lots of boats, too many to list and the one that I have will be with me till I stop breathing. I have always wanted one and I blame David Barker(I keep telling my wife that) ...

Re: In need of a boat

Bink, I love these boys from the south. Just never understood why they don't start fishing till the bass move back to the river channel. They miss so much of the learning of what fish do in the early part of the season and what it takes to catch them. It's a complete head shaker. And I don't mind ri...

Re: In need of a boat

Bink, Your a fricken animal!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice cat. It won't be long and the ice will be gone but this has been a really hard winter for all of us. It's easy to get depressed when your part of the world is iced up and you are stuck indoors and you watch the Bassmaster Classic and the fish are in pre ...

Re: Rick Clunn

Rick Clun has given Buck Perry a lot of credit in the past. He is one of the guys that I have always liked. Who can not be envious of those that can pay their bills by doing something that they enjoy. These boys put in a lot of effort and in the last few years, they don't have to live in the back of...

Re: Buck on fishing lines...

You are so right Steve. I just happened to have written about the new depth finders for the next National Newsletter. I tried to put their use in the right perspective for success and compared todays units with the old. I remember when the first braids came out. Frank Hamill used them so we thought ...

Re: Lures

Nice fish you got there. Only in my dreams around here. Got out and used the 10XD yesterday. The front we had with the rain and high winds put a slow down on the catching. 8 hours on the water and only three bass and one 8 lb pike. Most at 25 feet. Biggest bass was 16 inches long. We had lots of hit...

Re: Lures

A spoonplug is my number one lure for most of the season, especially when the speeds are quite fast. Crankbaits have come a long way over the years but when the speeds are on the fast side, it is the spoonplug all the way. A spoonplug has a pull down effect once it makes contact with the bottom. It ...

Re: Lures

None of the stores out here have them. I happened to find them on line on sale so I bought them. Turns out that the place was in California but it still only took me three days to get them. The last couple of years at Kentucky Lake I was stocked up with different crankbaits. Fell in love with the DT...

Lures

I have been wanting to get the big crankbait that strike King offers, the 10XD for use when the moss is bad in some of our lakes and when going a bit deeper. Yesterday I got my order through the mail and I like what I see. Cant wait to put these new tools to use on Saturday and see how long it takes...
