Re: Buck Perry "Sanctuary Depths"

I guess this is all we are going to get. All good answers. Every fishing situation is different and this includes what may exist in the deeper waters we fish. All of my comments are considering we have already checked all of our depths and speeds up to the point of going out beyond the last visable ...

Re: Buck Perry "Sanctuary Depths"

Steve, Great lesson for you for sure and for all of us. My motor is in the shop also and they have already placed a phone call to the manufacturer and still have not found the problem. I do have faith that they will find the problem and I will not miss out on my fishing time. Back to the thinking. W...

Re: Buck Perry "Sanctuary Depths"

Topic for discussion. Mr. Perry said near the end of that talk that if 30 -35 feet of water was available to the fish and if he did not check to at least that depth , it is not checked. What thoughts go through your mind after that statement? John

Re: Trolling reels

When trolling, we put a lot of tension and pressure on our equipment. The spools will flex and this is why it is important to buy a reel that has a one piece frame and made out of metal, not plastic. Beware of anything other than metal. I think the cheaper to mid range diawa's are composit frames al...

Re: Trolling reels

The Penn 109's were junk back then and I hated it when I was on the water and the level wind stopped working. It didn't take me long to get rid of them. The new line counters are great. I can say that because I am on the water more than most. John

Re: Jerry Borst

Jerry, Are you talking about our old buddy on the river with the long hair that was the king of the river till the spoonpluggers showed up and showed him how it's done? John

Re: Jerry Borst

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! That had to hurt. You should of used a Douglas Bush quote like the empty box showing how much you care or the little girl praying with folded hands saying.........Please make it stop. Good job Jerry. You need to express yourself more often. :) John

Re: Open Water Season - Can't Wait

It is a shame that most fishermen don't even know that spoonplugging exists. And even worse, most that have the knowledge at their finger tips, have not taken full advantage of it. There are lots of ways to catch a fish. Lots of so called methods. Any one of them will catch a fish at one time or ano...

Re: Open Water Season - Can't Wait

I agree with you on that. Back to the doc tomorrow to see if they will let me back to work. I'm getting fat and the ice is too thick for me to enjoy ice fishing. Fingers are slowly improving and thank you for the thought. See you soon. John

Re: Open Water Season - Can't Wait

Dennis, You are so right about one thing. This guys is for sure not a spoonplugger. I was not quite 3 minutes into the video when I almost shut it down. Between that time and the end, I thought about something that Mr. Perry once said. The reason that he went out on his own to find out what made a f...

Re: Buck Perry

Jerry, I thought I would wait for some replys first but I can't take it. You answered your own question. Stability is the key. If the color of the water is that red sandy all the time, you should be ok. If it has come from rain run off and it was a fast change, we are all in trouble. There may be an...

Buck Perry

When Jim Shell posts video's of Mr. Perry and I hear his voice, it brings good memories from the past. When he would show up at the outings, it was like having a rock star around. I feel bad for the people that never got a chance to be around him. When he spoke or when you asked him a question, you ...

Re: Buck Perry

In short, that answer would be sometimes or just plain no. Yes it can dissapear al together. And yes it can make a 90 degree turn and head out to the middle of the lake and then back to the shore, just like a bar. There will be turns along it. We fished a hole in kissimee where the more firm bottom ...

Re: Buck Perry

Those impulse units were way ahead of their time. I used one for a long time and just got tired of having to have my head burried in that battery box that we used for a cover. That thing showed the muckline great and that bottom pic that Steve put in there is outstanding for all of you to look at. T...

Re: Buck Perry

You took good notes Phil. Only one thing to add. The faster speeds are actually because of the hot temperatures in the south and the combination of shallow water, the temperature of the water gets the fish so active that for most of the hot season ,you will need those speeds to make them take. Frank...
