Re: 500 SP: Cast with or without a snap ?

Always use a snap with a spoonplug. Like Fran said, the split ring is made to spin and needs to spin for the lure to give the best action. The 500 doesn't pull very hard so you may take a long time to wear out the metal but I can guarantee you that if you tie directly to the split ring and troll wit...

Re: It's about the SPEED...

Fran said we threw a frog when I was up last year. He had bought some from a recomendation from someone else. I knew he had them and when we were fishing this lake, I noticed that the shallow stuff was fairly thick and about then, I saw a bass bust through it. I told him to rig us a couple of rods w...

Re: Im back.....

I owe Frank Hamill a lot for taking me under his wing when I was a bit younger. He once told me that I had fire in my eyes and soon after, he would draw me a map of a structure on Pickwick and tell me to go look at it. I did every bit of the homework that he gave me. I could not believe that anyone ...

Spoonplugs for Sale

Bill Bagshaw from the Indy area called with some spoonplugs for sale. All new and ready to fish. Most dated in the era of when Mr. Perry made the shad looking color where all the paint fell off. A lot of polished lures also. All interested must call Bill at 502-544-8935 for more information. John

700 spoonplugs for sale

I got a call from Waymon Couch tonight. Kenny Hyde introduced me to Waymon years ago and when I talked to him, I just knew that this was a really good man. His sister in law's husband passed away and she needs some money so she is selling some of his spoonplugs. They are all 700's and they are all n...

Brian, White bass are a ball. They fight good, and can turn a bad day into a good day when the old largemouth get tight lipped. It looks like you had a little fun. John

Re: Seasonal Migration

If you are anything like me, I have wanted all of the answers and have worked very hard over a long period of time to find them. I have not found all of the answers simply because there is so much to learn and there are so many variables involved. What I have learned is that there are some things th...

Clay, Have you tried golf? John PS. I'll post something a little later. Ok, it's later. Here is how you fish a Florida lake. You locate the deepest water in the lake or the deepest water in the area. You can look at a map to give you the area or area's. Some of the lakes you can identify some kind o...

Re: What happens when a pike swims off with your lure?

This research guy must be a fricken genius. You mean that if you take a fish out of the water for prolonged periods of time, they might die? I have one that I thought of that I might write a book on. Do fish get thirsty? I have proof that fish living in Arizona drink more water than a fish in Indian...

Detroit river

Fighting island, Grosse Island , Trenton channel, very nice. I am thinking about running a lure down there in all of those areas. I do have a few spots in this place. Some of the best smallmouth action can be had in this area also. You did a great job of getting the most out of that shot. Nice. John
