Re: Contour line fishing!

I agree, its ok that a person who has no guidelines(never been exposed to spoonplugging), and makes statements like that. The guy just doesn't know. What is far worse is those who have the knowledge at their fingertips, has the study material and the ability to put it to use and doesn't. It would be...

Re: Console Boat Steering

Brian, I learned a long time ago that it does no good to yell at someone for not following Mr. Perry's guidelines and I have yelled at plenty. You cannot make someone do what they don't want to do. You can only try and help those that ask for help. Mr. Perry was correct in every aspect of his teachi...

Total Eclipse/ Does it effect the movements?

I can give you my point of view on Musky Joe's question. I thought about this a lot. Mr. Perry said that he never saw any relationship of fish movements according to the position of the moon. Any solunar tables that are out there that make predictions on fish movements can be overshadowed by the loc...

Re: Trolling speed

Fish do not shy away from a lure because they may not like it. Either your depth is off or your speed is off or both. That's the only way to look at it. John

Re: Lake Beulah SE wisc

This is for Casey's eyes only, not you Jim. What a nice fish. You did a great job of bringing him in without panic. Your dad had a little to do with your catching of the fish by putting your lure in position but I hate to give him a big head. Great job. I have been on that lake. Great structures and...

Re: New to Forum

Brian, Been doing this since 1972. That's a long long time. That guy who wrote the book knows what it takes to be a great fisherman. You don't understand right now but a tiller driven boat is important to have. You can keep the steering wheel as long as you want but some day when you get some experi...

Re: Advance notice: Solar eclipse on Monday, 21 August 2017

Here is my opinion on that. If the fish notice it at all, it will be seen by them as just another light conditions change and they will move according to that. A local weather condition (cold front) could and would off-set any idea of any major fish movement because of it. I can tell you one thing. ...

Re: Chemical weed control

Dwayne, Not true at all. Some of the best fishing waters do not have as much as a blade of grass or a weed in it. Dark yellow green water color is what we look for and hope for. If you have studied the green book, you will note that Mr. Perry gave us all the water colors and rated them from good to ...

Re: What type of reservoir am I?

Fished Norman when we went to an outing in NC. Caught a lot of fish but no one caught anything very big but a lot of fish. O'Malley's best spot is towards the headwaters. A bar under a bridge. Imagine that. I would be right behind Steve heading towards the upper end also. There was a great catch of ...

Mr. Perry

Kenny and I were talking yesterday and I mentioned this to him. Jeri Perry fished with Buck sometimes. I wrote her a letter and asked her what Mr. Perry would discuss when they were fishing together? Wouldn't it be neat to hear some of the things that went through his mind when he was fishing? Mrs. ...

Re: Minnesota Video

Hi Brian, Not many details. This was the fall. Went out there, looked to see if a thermocline was there and there was none. All the baitfish(bluegill and crappie) were at 25 to 30 feet so thats where I started trolling. Came up on a really nice hard finger and caught a fish before our lures got up o...

Re: Chemical weed control

Dennis, I live on a lake where in 2005 they decided that a total weed kill was needed and it was done, despite my argument. Before the spraying took place, my lake where I purchased a cottage because of the great bass fishing had five schools of big bass. The schools were so strong that many times, ...
