Re: MLF Lake Kissimmee

I just looked at a map of Garcia. The place is a stick marsh. It has one 9 ft hole in the south end. It's a very different looking body of water. Not a place a spoonplugger would even take a second look at. When Kissimmee was in its prime, the good spoonpluggers would catch 8-15 fish in one movement...

Forgot to say this............ The inability for a fan to interact with their hero's is not available in this new format. KVD will miss those 50-100 people following him around and fishing his spots when he leaves for another. There are no weigh ins for the fans to gather. Although the Bassmaster an...

Re: MLF Lake Kissimmee

I have always kept track of the tournament guys(fishing shows ect)........ I did it for four years and that was enough for me. My learning stopped. You always have the guys who beat the banks no matter what time of year it is. You also have the best of that group that understand structure, breaks an...

Re: Dons Childhood Idol.

Jim, I would like to see Don get some interest going also. I also had thoughts that some on the water video's would help the cause too. Just didn't mention it. Talk sometimes doesn't shake anyone up but showing them can open their eyes. Florida lakes are not as good as they once were. They spray the...

Re: Dons Childhood Idol.

Love Don Dixons enthusiasm for trying to reach more people with spoonplugging knowledge through the internet. Millions of fisherman now have access to the greatest educational material that will change their lives. And I see there is a whopping 700+ people who signed up, out of those thousands that ...

Re: Southern Michigan

Brian, I hear from Zaborney about once every two weeks. I think he just likes to rub it in with the nice bass he is catching. You hang around John in the summer when he gets back home and he will teach you the ropes. Study hard and work hard and often on the water and you will be content. John

Re: SJs for sale

Now that you sold them, I always loved that bait but hated the hooks. Old and junk. Great lure , bad hook. Terry had the idea to take them and drill them out and put a treble hook on them. I did that too and I remember getting into a big school one day and caught a couple over 6 lbs. Lost them soon ...

Re: Merry Christmas Spoonpluggers

We have also had some decent temps, enough to open one of our deep clear lakes. I have been moping around the house for over two weeks looking at the ice that is on my home lake and going through depression that happens every year about this time. Sunday Dan Luley and I got out and caught 96 bass up...

Re: Mapping & Interpretaton Part 12

It is really a great teaching video. Look at the depths of the breaklines. Add heavy current and a different control of lures to take care of deep less active fish. Wheat do you get out of a bunch of average students? You get failure. Not due to the teacher but due to the ability of the students to ...

Ice

We are several weeks ahead of schedule for ice up but............ opened up the blinds yesterday to see about 100 ft of ice on my shoreline. The lake I live on has extensive shallow flats so it is the first to freeze. In a few days it will warm a bit and can still fish about anywhere. Might have to ...

Re: Mapping and Interpretaion Part 9-- MAPPING A BAR - On the Water

Nothing replaces the spoonplugging process for mapping a structure. The mapping is just the start. Then you must fish it correctly according to what you just mapped. No other substitute. The mapping features can be used while doing your interpretation of a feature. The map your depth finder draws is...

Re: Mapping & Interpretaton Part 7

All of what Don is trying to tell you is very easy to do. Been doing it this way since the early 70's. You can ask my students about this. I put them in the back of the boat and ask them to map a bar that I take them to for the very first task. This tells me immediately what they know or don't know....

Re: Mapping & Interpretaton Part 5

Mike, You don't really change the way you fish just because a lake has turned over. You still use structure, breaks and breaklines as your guide. I look at turnover as happening once and it's happening right now with our cooler temps causing the waters to mix. The large fish can be shallow after tur...
