Re: Florida fishing with Don & Donnie!!!
I find it hard to throw markers with the traffic these days. I just try and get a shoreline sighting and if I don't get it right the first time, I keep moving the mark till we get it right. Just work on one finger at a time. Just got off of my lake and made a couple laps. One of my passes I have a s...

Markers buried and no net. He's not much different than the rest of us. Spoonplugging does work. Love those Florida lakes. John

Re: Lake Types Part 6
Me being a natural lake guy, I never got to see much of that. My first indication of something similar was at Pickwick. Pickwick is more like a river than a Reservoir just because it's not very wide compared to the other sections of the Tennessee river like you would see at Kentucky Lake or Lake Chi...

Re: mapping
Like Steve said...….. All of my serious mapping and finding breaklines is done with a flasher. Why???????????? Because that is what I am used to. Can you look for breaklines with sonar or downscan……..sure but instant readings from the sonar shows things better and again, its what I am used to . John

Re: mapping
Sometimes it helps to run from the shallows to the deep at a faster speed. May show up a little easier for you. John

Re: Always learning
Good stuff and nice results. At the end of a fishing day, it always comes down to depth and speed. There are days that we figure them out and others send us home wondering if it was me or a condition that did not allow me to make a good catch. I know there were days that Buck would stay home and pla...

Always learning
Just thought I might share this with you. Just after the bass are done spawning there is a period where the catching is sometimes a little slower. The crappies are done, the bass are done and the pike really have not coming back out of the deeper waters on their regular summer movements. At this tim...

Re: Basic guideline
Harold, Just returned from back to back trips, St. Clair and then the Niagara River. The shallow movement I am referring to is a seasonal movement, now a normal daily fish movement. It happens somewhere between 48-50 degrees. You must get some stable weather for it to happen, It is a pre spawn thing...

Re: Trolling speed
Hi Jim, It is easier to shrug things off these days than it used to be. Found out that you cannot make a fisherman do something they don't want to do. And then there are posts that you read and just have to try and help them. John

Re: Trolling speed
I won't mention the guys name (great friend now), but years ago, this guy was having trouble catching fish period. After about a thousand questions, we ended up near his boat and I got a chance to look around. I didn't see a spoonplug in the boat but tons of crankbaits of all different kinds. I let ...

Re: The enemy is here
I have dealt with everyone I can think of including all that you all have mentioned. Rarely got a reply from anyone. I even contacted 60 minutes. Told them that this would be a great story with the state being involved, the lies that are being told, the destruction of the fish in our lakes here and ...

The enemy is here
I've had a good time on my own lake this year but right now my blood pressure is up and I am red faced. Ted Walter put a great article by Mr. Perry in our last Indiana newsletter about how a fish reacts to a changing environment. The weed spraying guy is out on my lake right now throwing his rake an...

Re: Basic guideline
Thanks Steve, Any more, I don't get many over 6lbs since they spray the weeds all the time. The lake where I caught that one they don't spray and it is one of the few natural lakes that have shad so they eat good. Lakes like this one are hard to find. Take Care. John
