Re: Muckline
Frank Hamill told me he made 20 trips to Florida before he caught his first fish. After I was shown how to find the muck line(by Mr. Perry and Kenny), after a few trips to Florida, I realized why the boys never talked much about the lakes and told me to keep my mouth shut also. It is very hard to le...

Re: Muckline
Your unit shows it perfectly and you better believe that transition is important. When I was in Florida, I used my flasher, sonar and also down scan. They all show the transition. John

Brian, Then you will enjoy some of the statements I make in the next national. I am sure you employ some of the same things in your thinking as I do, especially for the crappie. John

Not all fish read the same book as we do
This little smallmouth lake we fish is so much fun because you have this small 80 acres of water that load up with smallmouth that leave the river and winter in this little lake. Its 30 feet deep, has 2 parking spots at the ramp and if you don't get there early, the farmer lets us park along the roa...

Re: Who is this guy?
Wow......... AT this point in time, I had already been doing this for 24 years. Now 22 more years have passed and I'm still making an effort to get better. It's all about catching the fish and doing what is necessary. Thanks Mr. Perry. Don't know how I caught all those fish with only one depth finde...

There is always something meaningful
Going through the green book this morning because our weather is not fit to step outside. Page 274 at the bottom of the page. "Always remember depth control means WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY, and HOW. Speed controls will make the fish take, and also tell you WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY, and HOW. This put...

Re: reservior
Three hours is a ways. Lake Erie and St. Clair is about the same for me but both are surrounded by Detroit and with all the crap going on, I like it right here on my little lakes where I feel safe. I am having a great learning year and still have a good month or so before ice up. Some of the lakes I...

Re: reservior
I have never been good at figuring out exact lake types. Flatland, lowland and Highland works for me. This type 1 whatever type 3, I don't need to be able to figure that out. As far as picking out the best areas for the time of year, if you were near the reservoir, it would take from an hour to mayb...

Re: Fall movements
Hi Charlie, Yes we are still in the chase. Talked to O'malley for two hours last night listening to the same stories I always hear from him but your realize his love for Mr. Perry and the many highlights he has had from spoonplugging. He came along at the right time when most of the lakes were loade...

I did vote, the wife and I both, then we went fishing. Someone beat that!!!!!!!!!!!!! Three of the fish we caught if you add them up might have went 7 1/2 lbs. Went again today just so I didn't have to watch the outcome of the election. John

Re: Fall movements
Been doing this for years. Nothing new here. You cannot rule out checking the shallows for sure but it does not happen often. When it is not going well in the deeper stuff, I make an attempt to check it. A quick check and if not there, back to the normal stuff. Sorry to say that most do not see eith...

Re: people
Long before we went to Old Hickory, I spent hours of map study, the feeder creeks, the main channel in hopes of checking many structures and finding the best ones. My eyes kept going back to the deep hump where most of the biggest stripers were caught. My sights were not on the largemouth, but the s...

Hal, You continue to get better!!!!! Why? Because you may have had as much or more time on the water than I did. You are self motivated and need no one to push you. You want this!!!!!!!!!! So you put forth the effort that it takes for success. The more success you have, the more you want to see!!! F...

Hal, The best time for us today was between 11:30 and high noon. After that, it slowed and we went a little deeper and picked up a couple more. John
