Re: Filet mignon catfish

I too like an occasional catfish, however, the last two I decided to eat when Deb was not around went into the trash. At that time I had a yellow lab and the dog didn't like it either. They might have been too big, don't know. Best fish I ever had was the Flathead Fran caught at the outing on Kentuc...

Re: Thought of this the other day

Knight used to fish with a guy around here( a fly fisherman named Larry Edwards) and they would fish a small lake in the woods right behind my house. When we had the gas station, my mother in law was running the cash register and Deb was in the back room doing the deposit for the day when Knight sto...

Re: Thought of this the other day

Your right. Terry and I have had some great conversations about our spoonpluggers work ethics. If we were to come right out and say these things, or write them, there would be no following. Instead, we do what we can to help those in need and leave it up to them to make something of themselves. I le...

Re: Thought of this the other day

You are so right about that. The new hire and his new hired crew has created some hope to bring it back where it once was. The first game I watched made me realize it was watching him and how he coached that I missed the most. I have to be a ND football fan. Its only 45 minutes away. Last year was m...

Thought of this the other day

I am a Notre Dame football fan and Indiana basketball fan. Watching Indiana basketball has been really hard lately. It's more fun when the team you are rooting for is winning. This last coach that just got fired used to do his end of game speech and congratulate the other team and what they did and ...

Re: Blue cats

Yes I do. John If I could catch cats like that all day long (not sure I have the stamina), I would do it all day long. Is that a braidwood fish?

Re: New Spoonplugger

Not sure about the legend thing. I do know that when I got started, there was no one available to reach out to. We wrote a few letters to Mr. Perry and he answered every one of them with direction to get us back in line. One such letter was to get off of those clear lakes and fish water color. He su...

Re: This is what I see coming

Brian, I have to disagree with you. Not really. I agree with everything that you said to the tee. Right on the money!!!! Start out by the book. Learn the first three size lures on a lake with no weeds or only weeds to 3-4 feet. Learn the shapes of your structures. See how weather and water effects t...

Re: This is what I see coming

I can say that each and every improvement in technology had taught me a little bit more than I knew before. They have all been great aids. I assume the next step will be the same but maybe better. 24 small bass today big 1 1/2 pounds and 26 crappie , biggest 12 inches. I kept a nice mess for tomorro...

Re: This is what I see coming

Brian, I had a nice note back to you but elected not to write it. I just asked the wife if she thought spoonplugging was an art and she said yes. Because so few have really gotten good at it. That comes from a woman who had been there and done it. It's ok to disagree. John

Re: This is what I see coming

Brian, You said the art of angling is dead. I see the art of angling in years of becoming a good troller. The true art is going through the process of learning, you learn about structure, breaks and breaklines, weather and water, movements of the fish, the importance of finding the contact points, s...
