How much mono backing for wire?

Post by rockfish »

Will 100 yards of No-Bo 17# wire and 100 yds. of No-Bo 17# mono as backing be too much line on my Penn 109? If yes, about how much backing should I put? Thanks.

RF,
If you all ready have the line then use a second reel. Put all the wire on the 1st reel then the mono to the desired amount. Then wind it all on to the 2nd reel.
I personally think it's cheaper to go with the 200 yd spools, cause you, "WILL" loose some from time to time, 20' here 10' there adds up but if you have 200 yds backing you up it's not as big a deal.

Bucks rods are good and will hold up well, however like "ANY" other rod with a lot of time running the wire you will need to change the tip but it's not hard. Good luck!
