Lure Position

Post by Fran Myers »

Lately I have been having some success with fish -Great.

I have to admit that I am having trouble with the situational awareness where the lure is 45 to 120 feet or more behind me and X feet below. I find that I am making perfect trolling passes with the boat but I mentally see the lure wildly swinging from one side to another.

Fran:
As long as your lure is bumping bottom (not plowing) you can be sure the lure is not swinging wildly and is following the path of the boat. If this were not the case the lure would rise to the top.
Does it matter where it is if it's in position and catching fish?

Fran,
If the longer lines are giving you trouble then try a larger lure and a shorter line length. Pay attention to what the lure is telling you. Like Pat said if you are bumping then your lure should be in position.
