Its Begun...
Morning all. Yesterday I went to the cabin because I want to have my wood fireplace converted to gas. When I got there i saw some open water. Not a lot considering there is almost 11 miles if ice but its a start. My lake is also subject to tremendous ice push. Of course in my search I picked a cabin...

Re: New Boat...
I appreciate the offer but I have a fully dressed boat with Side and downscan. Everything just needs a good cleaning and organization.

Re: New Boat...Chapter 2
Hello, Am definitely NOT taking new Alumacraft to StClair next month. Most of the stuff I ordered for the new boat is in except the tiller handle. This is supposed to be in before the end of March so that is all really good news. The not so good news is the electronics. I stumble onto a REALLY great...

Re: New Spoonplugger
Morning Vern, When I started mapping structure I had to use a 25’ pontoon boat. It’s not quite impossible but results are questionable. The tiller boat is the BEST way to learn Spoonplugging. But there is more to it than pulling a funny named lure behind the boat. But I will go a different tack than...

New Boat...
I ordered a new Alumacraft boat in December. Wanted a higher side boat for the big water lake I am on. My Ranger is Great but the low sides and tendency to spear waves...well let’s just say that while big water fishing for one week is ok, now that I am on big water mostly - I want a higher sided boa...

Re: This is what I see coming
Mike that is a huge observation. Another issue might be, where would you point your LiveScope to begin with to SEE these fish? It’s one thing to use electronics on a lake you are familiar with, it’s completely different to take them to a body of water you aren’t familiar with. Part 2... As I was say...

Re: This is what I see coming
I am kinda late to this discussion. Woe is Spoonplugging, woe are the big schools...I am not so sure. Yes, there will be more fish caught. Bigger fish caught too. No question. But if we look at our own materials - Equipment is only one volume in the 9 volume Home Study Kit. And it wasn’t even the th...

Re: At least it's Friday - who cares? I'm retired
It’s sounds like a good day. I drove to the lake today and the lake ice looks like it’ll last till July Yesterday, I flew my plane around the lake and there was not even a small sign of opening. There were roads plowed all over the lake. It’s really cool. Last summer I fished a number of times where...

Re: Terry and Fran
I wish I could take credit for posting the photo but it wasn’t me. I never had it. The reason for the photo was that I had scheduled an On-the-Water advanced class with Terry during the NC Outing. Mr Perry died before I got there and the newspaper were writing articles and needed pictures. I recall ...

Re: water color / muddy water
This is a tricky subject. Because sometimes water color that would be perfect could be too muddy for the fish based on the normal water color. For example... I spent many years fishing the Bass Islands. Normally the water color is really clear. MANY times I flew an airliner over the islands and saw ...

Eagle sure gets big especially when you add the 15 mile boat ride to it.

Re: Mills Lac 2021 fall outing?
Hi Ken, I don’t think any of us pursue big waves. But when you drive the distances that we do sometimes to fish sometimes we fish because we have to. But that doesn’t mean we punch out into 5 footers. That being said the smaller boats do quite well. When the wave starts are big most of us stick to t...

Re: Mills Lac 2021 fall outing?
Sorry Guys. Been having trouble logging in here but that’s all fixed. There have been two posts here asking about get togethers. All I can say is ‘YES’. A few guys want to come in June. Same and different guys want to come in the fall. It’s hard to get my flying schedule this far out but I am thinki...

Re: Ranger 175 T
It’s not my boat. I have one just like it. A bit underpowered with a 60 on it but still pretty nice.
