Re: New Boat...
Fran Thank you again for the Alumacraft tip!!! It is an awesome boat. I know you are going to love yours when it gets done. My 60hp Honda is super stingy on fuel! Gets better gas mileage than my old 40! Sorry about the Electronics. These days there is a shortage of everything. Paint, painting sundri...

First time using Active Target
Went to Apache lake yesterday. Air temps 55 degrees. Finally warmed up to 78 degrees. Water temps 56degrees. Later in the day i saw 60 degree water. Looks like a late spawn this year. Normally they would have spawned already. We have been having front after front and severe ones at that. Keeping wat...

Re: This is what I see coming
Well..... It is in the boat, all set up like I want it. The Elete is set up as well. Spent alot of time last night playing with the settings etc. It is so cool how this thing works. Heading to Apache Saturday morning. Will see how it all works, or if I wasted a bunch of money. Something tells me tha...

Re: This is what I see coming
Champ, The Module is a must. it comes in the kit with the Transducer. It has to have a power supply and will or 12 volt or 24 volt. The Transducer cable plugs into it, and there must be an Ethernet cable from your Depth Finder to the Module. It is all in the kit. I paid $1499 for the Kit and $1199 f...

Re: This is what I see coming
Hal, My gut feeling is that it will not help at all in our Contour Trolling. I could be wrong. I do believe that it will really shine when getting into a casting situation. This is why I have it on the Bow of the boat. If i can pinpoint a school of fish quicker and easier, then it will have paid for...

Re: This is what I see coming
Well......
I got the last Active Target from Cabelas today, along with a new Lowrance Elete FS 9 to go with it. So we will see how it all works.
Last one in the entire Phoenix area!

Re: At least it's Friday - who cares? I'm retired
Mountains around the house are again covered in snow here, so no trips for this weekend. High Country roads are a mess. Pouring rain here all weekend with occasional spitting snow. Mike, 6 inchers can show you where, for the bigger gals. Also Low voltage will not allow your unit to function. Decided...

Re: Snow and Spoonpluggers
Brian, Get you a 5th wheel so you can Double Tow the boat. That way, you can go anywhere, North in the summer, South in the winter, West when ever, East to....... Or, if wife can manage without those big 5th wheels, get a good Slide in Truck Camper. Cathy thought she wouldnt like the Slide in, but n...

Wow Brian!
That article is probably one of the best, thought out, and insightful articles I have ever read!
Very eye opening to say the least.
Thank you for taking the time to post it.
You hit the nail on the head, and just conveyed what my gut has been feeling for a long time now.

Re: This is what I see coming
I dont know. Maybe Champ is right. Mike makes several good points as well. As far as Live Scope, I am going to wait until Humminbird come out with theirs at the end of May. Supposed to be far better than either Garmin or Lowrance. We will see. One thing i have learned over the years, is that after m...

Re: Still struggling to find breaklines
Mike Like Champ says, that long narrow bar is more than likely a summer time structure. I would spend my time on all that steep area south of that bar, all the way down to both those coves. The bass will be heading towards the coves WITH CHANNELS in them. Early prespawn, they will be anywhere from t...

Re: Still struggling to find breaklines
Mike, For your understanding here we will say a breakline is nothing more than a QUICK change in bottom condition. In our case, it is a QUICK change in depth. Breaklines are what FORMS the structure. Go to page 213 in the Green Book and look at Figure 72. This is what you are looking for. Now turn b...
