Re: Going to Mille Lacs
Mille lacs is one of our favorite Minnesota lakes even with its so called up and down fish populations, rules and regulations. The small mouth have been a constant throughout. The biggest obstacle on this lake is the wind, just a 15 mph can produce large waves making it a real challenge. I've told m...

Re: French Lake
Nice job with the new look Jim (Shell) This is why first hand knowledge is best. Big Jim obviously did his research and I also spent a few minutes looking up a few things but I saw nothing about muskies in this "French Lake". It may just change the way I feel about it  What I foun...

Re: Seasonal Migration
My feelings on this one is in most cases, as it has already been stated, Buck is talking about the lm bass with a sanctuary depth of "only" 30-35'. When pursuing species such as the walleye the spoonplugger must learn to work more than just structure situations that go from the shallows to...

Chase Klinesteker
As many of you know Chase is a very fine fishermen, a great teacher and admirer of Mr. Perry's work. I and many of you received an email not long ago with some current fishing reports in his area. For those that did not I found his "RECIPE FOR FISHING SUCCESS" very interesting and thought ...

Re: Trolling reels
Well said John! The test for any tool whether it be a boat or a reel is "Does it allow the Spoonplugger to keep his lure "In Position" (the right depth and speed) and if I may add, "as much of the time as physically possible". I try and look at every fishing day as a set amo...

Re: Setting Drag for trolling and leader length ?
Eric Haataja turned us on to the Milwaukee harbor years ago. He said he was catching his trout on stick baits and spoons (at that time I didn't even know what a "stick bait" was) and many of them he said were caught at 24', which if you know the harbor would be about 4' up off the bottom. ...

Re: Controlled Straggler Fishing
Great stuff, thanks for posting. I think a lot of us are here because of straggler catches. When we got started we were taught to troll the weedline and no deeper than 15' till we got the hang of it. On the Fox Chain that put us at the 8-10' depth much of the time. Lucky for us the Chain was stocked...
