Buck's Articles in Fishing Facts 77-78
I have one of these articles, about fishing deep in the Winnipeg River System when the fish were staying deep and finding spots close to the sanctuary depth. I used to have several years of back issues, but tossed them during a move so I don't have the others. Does anyone have the others or would it...

Re: Lake in Ontario
Fran, Water color is light brown, but semi-clear to clear. You can see rocks on bottom in 5 ft without shading your eyes. The secchi disk reading was 10 ft, not sure where that comes out. Bottom is lots of rounded rocks , curly cabbage weeds are about 5-9 ft but only patches here and there I guess w...

Re: Lake in Ontario
Looking forward to what John Bales has to say.
to reiterate, I am not looking for someone to crack this for me, I live 2000 miles away and won't be fishing it anytime soon.

Re: Lake in Ontario
Bink, thanks for commenting.
I meant that the good structures are pretty few, I guess, and the average fisherman would never stumble upon them. The west end of the lake , the second map seems to have a lot more possibilities, most of the fish I caught were in the obvious areas there.

Re: Lake in Ontario
Steve, thanks for the thoughts. I believe it's considered a difficult lake because of course most people fish shallow or shorelines. This lake has a light brown color but is semi-clear to clear, (see the secchi disk 10' ! on the map info) added the file today. That 5 ft hump is locally known as the ...

Re: Lake in Ontario
I've just posted this as a discussion of how to crack a difficult lake, I haven't fished it in years and won't again for a while. The big sunken island seems to be dominated by muskie, even online forums don't mention catching anything else there. Ontario fishing contest listed 50 pound muskie caugh...

Lake in Ontario
Here is a lake in Ontario noted for large muskie, as well as walleye, pike and smallmouth. The minimum keepable size muskie is 48 inches! It has a reputation as a difficult lake. When I looked at the map again I recalled what Buck wrote about looking for deep structure when a lake is drawn down, and...

Renewed spoonplugger
Hi, I'm Bill from Ontario, Canada, now in S. Texas. I got a gift subscription to Fishing Facts when I was 17 ( about 1977) and then bought Buck's book and the study course. I have been rereading it all lately since discovering this site and having some time off. Back then and still as far as I know,...
