Lake trout madness

This winter is nearly as carbon copy of last year here in the midwest. Last year was the first time I launched the boat ALL winter (Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb). Same thing this year! Lake trout taste like crap here, but they are a blast to catch.

Lake St. Clair smallies

Casey went solo to St. Clair for smallies last Saturday. Looks like he's loving college at Michigan State!

Yep, Buck told us that 70+ years ago!
I always get a kick when you hear others telling us what Buck said years ago!

Re: Madison Chain

The most upstream lake will be the clearest. The water color will generally get better and better as you go downstream. This is due to more run-off and etc as you go downstream. I believe this is discussed in the home study course in detail. Below satellite pic confirms this as you can see. The most...

Madison Chain

It's been over one year since lake of the week was posted! So, I'll be posting a series about the Madison chain, to help with the excitement for this upcoming outing. In this first one, we'll start out simple. The Madison chain is a good example of a chain of lakes system. Where would you expect to ...

Water color

So nice to fish down south where the water color is great! Check out the water color in the video. All the lakes down there are like that. Buck always fished Grenada during Thanksgiving week. I've been lucky to continue that tradition the past 2 years now. I'm up for an outing next fall, if there's ...

Wipers at Lake Clinton

This was the best wiper fishing I ever had! The fish were active throughout the day and two occasions where they were busting shad on the surface! And of course we missed the biggest one in the net. It was a solid 9lb+ one. The big one hit when I was bumping the bottom pretty good too. They had reco...

Filet mignon catfish

Took my daughter fishing, 1/2 day at Clinton and 1/2 day at Braidwood. We caught many fish (but this is not a fishing report). I usually keep the cats from Braidwood and give them away to the shore fisherman. I enjoy doing that, as every time they bring a small panfish basket and I love the look on ...
