Re: Milfoil

Thanks for all the input!! Looks like a new aspect of fishing to put some time into. Might have to get some new gear to add to the collection too! Ken, I’ve seen home owners on tonka hire crews of 5-6 guys that physically scuba dive down and pull out the milfoil in front of their houses. Have also s...

Milfoil

So this may be a stupid question but - does anyone else have to deal with Eurasian water milfoil? I ask because with the discussion of a population of bass that live in the weeds. I’m curious to know how presentation of lures are handled in this situation. I know you’re looking for holes and pockets...

Re: A tip for the natural lake guys

I will add my two cents here- a little off topic but seasonally current. Both large and smallmouth can still be caught shallow this time of year, over the last decade of fishing this time of year hard I have found that you can find them shallow if you have two factors present at the same time- A sha...

Re: CONTACT POINT

Jon, That’s exactly what I was wondering, the shallower lakes seem to be getting crappy, t-clines setting up now only allowing fish to be 15-17 ‘ deep. Clearer lakes are usually spring fed so no t-clines, allowing fish to go deeper. Anyway, just got back from fishing a new lake, t-storms last night ...

Re: CONTACT POINT

Let me ask everyone this- in my area, the lakes that have dark water - the deepest water in the lake is usually much shallower than the deepest water say in a lake across the street that has clear water. ( if that makes sense) So.. question is does the deeper water in a clear lake offset weather con...

Re: Structure and Contact Point

No one ever knows unless you map it AND fish it
I like these exercises, however we can speculate all we want but you’ll never know until you fish it. Plane and simple. Fish it - fish it-fish it- fish……

Re: CONTACT POINT

Since I’m posting- I might stop the migration route short of what others have said- they have access to shallow water long before the end of the point- I’m wrong lots….thoughts fellas?

Re: CONTACT POINT

Not gonna speak for others but that is not directly related to shallow water, so maybe under bad conditions it’s worth a checking?

Re: Lake Mille Lacs

I will second everything Scott said! What a weekend for myself- I got to hang out with old friends and make new ones all at the same time!! Fish were caught- but more importantly the spoonplugging force was was re-energized. The stories that were told and the information that was shared was unparall...

Re: Lake Mille Lacs

Fran, if it’s alright with you, I’d love to take you up on your offer. The big pond is a fun place to fish. It would have to be a weekend day as I work Monday through Friday . Would love to come up and hang out for a day if you wouldn’t mind? Let me know....

Re: The drop shot

Yep that was a fun one, not what I was expecting- that’s for sure. Those dinosaurs can pull. I have also used a drop shot with the kids on some mid lake humps fishing for big gills. Let them pick out their favorite piece of panfish plastic and go to town. Teaches them how to know when they’re on the...

Re: The drop shot

A drop shot at the end of a well placed cast at the base of a weed line can put many different species in the boat.

Re: The enemy is here

Got my first taste of lake poisoning. My boys and I were out last Friday to a lake 9 miles from home. Good yellow green color, usually loaded with bass and pike. Had some stable conditions so I figured it be a good one for the little guys to stay busy on. The boys lasted a solid three hours, which i...

Re: deep hole guideline

No shortage of desire here, I’ve always said fishing is my passion, my wife classifies it as “obsession”. To may toes, ta ma toes. I’m picking up what’s being put down here - get my butt to an outing. Roger that.
